I know what you mean. Asking a horse with bad legs and a quarter crack to bounce back from a blistering workout to win a 10f race from post #20 is sure asking an awful lot of any horse.
On the flip-side, he was the most talented horse in the race. I imagine it is pretty difficult to decide
not to run when you know your horse is the most talented animal in the Kentucky Derby....and he did run pretty damn well.
