What else were they going to do? Rasheed is old and is gone. Who else were they going to sign in the low post that was better? younger? More talented? Cheaper? Who was coming up next year?
Joe Dumars took a long look in the mirror and was extremely honest. Chris Bosh isnt coming. Dwayne Wade isnt coming. Lebron isnt coming. So in this depressed market, who else were they going to get?
Its easy to say "he shouldnt have spent the money" but we don't have to sell tickets. Joe does. They have to field an NBA quality team and perhaps there are more moves down the road. Time will tell.
If Ben Gordon turns out to be a star, we will be looking back on how shrewd these moves were.
