When they grab a quarter, that can take some time to heal too. We had a filly that grabbed a quarter a couple of years ago and she needed a few weeks off. And when you miss a few weeks of training that means you're not going to be able to run for a couple of months. We had actually been invited to run in the $750,000 Grade I American Oaks and we had to skip the race because of the grabbed quarter. I don't think the filly's feet were ever really the same after that. She always seemed to have little problmes with her feet after that. It was a shame because she had never had foot problems before she stumbled and grabbed the quarter.
