What an excellent point.

Personally, I wanted to see that filly win because Tabor and his boys specifcally stated earlier in the week and again after the race, that one of the reasons they did it was because they felt it was something the fans wanted to see. He was right. The day need an injection of something special, as did the game in general.

Alot of people have said that horse racing's fate would change if/when a horse completed and won the Triple Crown. It's just not true, because we know as soon as that horse won, he would be gone in a flash to a breeding shed. The last five weeks have been exactly what horse racing needs. An amazing basically last to first run by Street Sense and Borel to win the Derby, a neck and neck duel between Curlin and Street Sense in Baltimore, going to Curlin by a shade, in only his 5th race. Of course today, another rousing stretch duel, this time by Curlin and Rags to Riches and then having the filly be ABSOLUTLEY tough as nails, spitting in the wind and beating the boys.

In the end, the Triple Crown has given the game 4 or 5 legitimate draws that people will want to see race for the rest of 2007. Street Sense, Curlin, Hard Spun and Rags to Riches are bonified stars in the eyes of racing's fans. For the rest of the summer they will be the center of the game in anticipation that *maybe* they all meet on the track together before they all ride off.
What a day that would be.
