The old joke was, and perhaps still is, there are at least (and possibly at most) 20,000 hockey fans in each city, and the same people are the ones filling up the arena's each night. The ticket prices are insane for most people. I have not been to a game since the mid 90's when $40 got you a good seat. Madison Square Garden sells mostly to Corporations, who of course, use them as write-offs (this is my opinion, I don't have the numbers to back it up).
