No argument with your seconditis comment, but if you look at the splits, those first two finishers did anything but flatten. They ran the last 1/16 a shade under 6 sec and the three quarters to the mile split in about :24, while wasting the rest of the field. PD wasn't likely to blow by anyone, but he actually gained abit of ground on the winner from the stretch to the wire...far from "absolutley flat".
