It is very difficult for me to get excited about the "second jewel of the triple crown." The scratch of Lexington winner First Mission makes the race even less challenging than it was at the time of entries. Mage should be odds on and to me the only issue will be whether Mage will be able to hold his form with only a two week interval between races. In the past, other Derby winners have shown their ability to do this, although they have often paid the price further down the road.
