Good news as Paul Pompa says Toy Cannon is 100% and ready to rejoin Bill Mott's string at Payson Park!

Yeah it is.. Am hopeful that as a 4yo he can increase his starts-per-year average past 1. :p

Of course that 2/1-0-0 career mark is OK, but he's been a difficult case for every reason imaginable. He's a big, strapping gelding so there's plenty of potential to fill out yet.

Paul Pompa let me know this morning that Cannon is due at Payson at 2p today. Close to race shape.

We saw TC this morning post workout. Bill said that he worked in 50.2 today. Bill thought that Cannon might be ready for a race at Tampa or Gulfstream before he travels back to New York in the spring.

Spoke with Paul at length and he's really pleased with Toy Cannon's progress since returning to full training. Continues to drill steadily, though he may be the most disinterested workhorse in America. Most importantly, the splint that proved pesky last summer and into the fall is behind him. Should move to 5f Sunday and will likely make one March start at Gulfstream as a tighener in anticipation of April NY bred turf ALW at Aqueduct. Pompa expects an active campaign for Cannon through Belmont and Saratoga. Should be fun..
