Speaking of Dutrow. He is doing quite well for someone "banned" for 10 years. I seemed to have missed how he got his stay

Ever So Lucky is apparently being thought of as a miler at best by his trainer.

Kasept 02-08-2012 02:50 PM

Redeemed :24.88, :49.36; Trickmeister :24.79, :49.28

Sheppard last week in the DRF:

“He’s sort of an in-between horse in my estimation as far as distance is concerned,” Sheppard said. “He’s cut out to be a high-class miler, but because of his relaxed style he can stretch out, although I wouldn’t call him an out-and-out stayer. We’ll just take things one race at a time and see how he progresses. I don’t have any huge obsession to run in the Derby. It would be fun if we do, but I’m not going to run just for the sake of being there. I’m not going to sacrifice the horse to do that, and I think both I and Mr. Strawbridge feel the same way.”

Hes nice and all, but its a tough spot catching the Pletcher first time back. I do hope Ever So Lucky wins, it would be cool seeing Sheppard on the Derby Trail.

Trickmeister looked horrendous. . . it's always been said that he's not a good work horse, but still hard to be confident in him after that. Not that I really liked him.

booner 02-08-2012 05:22 PM

Just wondering......

How do trainers get permission to work their horses in between races?

Sightseek 02-08-2012 07:45 PM

With all due respect to Andy, I always think the horse's name is Where's Serling.

Fun day of racing!

I've never been able to get a handle on him but if he wins this race I will be astonished.

Anyone have post position stats for 9 furlong dirt races at Gulfstream? I have them for this year, but I'm interested in more than one year, like maybe since they renovated the track. Specifically, the outside posts (9,10,11) in 9 furlong dirt races.

My database only goes back to late Jan 2010 (worst hard drive failure ever). I'm sure Doug or someone else has more data.

Both winners were in cheap claimers two years ago. Battle Hardened only lost by a head from the 11 post in a MSW on Dec 31st.

Really nice field for the Gulfstream Park Turf. Can't wait.

I haven't looked at pp's for that one yet and coulda sworn i had posted who I was stuck between for the Donn (well somewhere and yes I know everyone cares :D) but the more I look at Ruler on Ice the more I like him in this spot.

Anyone else?

It's a tough one.. I really like the 1 & 10 as of now..

Like Trickmeister to win over Hymn Book with Shackleford third. Concerned that Dutrow may not have the most confidence tough so he entered Redeemed. I think very little of Flat Out and Ruler On Ice. A little afraid of Mission Impazible.

Played a $40 tri 8-10-9
$30 tri 8-9-10
$5 box 4-9-10
$2 box of three longest shots (in honor of the inconsistent division)
