Any idea what Ashtar has been running against in Chile? Seems pretty versatile with wins ranging from 6.5 furlongs to 12 furlongs.:tro:

Lil Calbred will give ya everything he has. At least, they know 2 months is enough rest to get his legs back under him. Whenever he has tried this hard (and can't quite get there) he has been dull in his next 2-3 races. So, hopefully, they give him 7-8 weeks now.

I don't think it's a question of spacing. Caracortado is probably just a better horse on the turf.

That dull race 2 back was on turf. He looks exactly like that after coming a tough 2nd to Fluke, or C Cat etc. It decks him.

He got one of the worst rides in the history of the American turf in the Arcadia. He wasn't dull.

He was far back for a reason. He was decked from the Fluke race. Joe give any quotes after the race? He's small. He is game as hell, but he is small, and he's just not quite as good as C.Cat, or Fluke. He empties everything trying to beat those types. Well, I think we will get to see who's right, because they will most likely come back in 3-4 weeks at Del Mar.

When he's tried hardest (close 2nds and 3rds to Grade one horses in 2 turn races,) he has struggled to come back on 4-5 weeks rest. I think he needs at least 6-8 weeks to recover from those.

He was far back because Talamo and whoever rode Jeranimo figured it was a 2 horse race and simply dogged each other while letting the hopeless horses get away from them down the backstretch. When Norvsky and Blue Chagall make an impact on the race you know it couldn't be a true result. As predicted, Liberian Freighter has returned to also-ran status now that the races have become more honest.

Machowsky ran today because of the defections. He was originally targeting the Eddie Read, but called an audible. So maybe he will sit on the horse. I'm not sure why, though, as there is nothing else to run in on the turf until the end of the meet. The Eddie Read will be a weak event, too, as Courageous Cat will probably return to NY, The Usual QT is pointing to Cal-bred stakes the next day, Ryehill Dreamer is done, and Sidney's Candy is sold. It's easy pickings and 3 weeks should be plenty of time.

The betting in the Triple Bend is quite spread out. Not surprised he's double digits, but an in-form Uh Oh Bango sitting out there at over 30-1 seems a bit out of place. He's made the most of his few sprint opportunities and seems to have enough speed to keep contact in a field without a confirmed frontrunner.
