I mentioned this on another thread but ummm yeah well... astute capper that I am I had that world-beater and champion Itsallaboutthechase one year.

It is not really that any single horse is a bad bet in and of itself. It is more the idea of betting a race months in advance without knowing who will actually be in the race, what the track conditions will be, what post they will draw, how the track is playing, etc.

We would never bet any race without actual information like this. The Derby should be no different.

Because if you catch one before he really pops, you can get 10x the odds....

If you approach it like a lottery ticket than it is ok.

Nothing wrong with playing a little lottery here or there...

Although none one would play the lottery if it offered 75-1 odds.

It's one bet a year, it's the biggest race of the year, it's gets people more excited about the biggest race of the year... I think I can let some of the drawbacks slide.

I had a $100 on Rockport Harbor at something like 15-1 in January...
