The progression of pictures from earlier in the year until now is really interesting. HC and TRK are looking good (at least from this novice's eyes).
Any chance TRK, like HC, might race in the Fall? |
There is no timetable for Harold Carmichael or Redboard King. Chuck and Gary happen to independantly agree that giving Smarty Jones progeny time to develop appears to be a prudent approach. Harold is at least 6-7 weeks from being ready to consider a start while King seems slightly ahead of that. Both continue to grow steadily and fill out.
Harold has certainly gotten noticably taller since coming to New York in June. He did particularly well while in Saratoga these few weeks too, and appears to be a smart individual. He lays down often, and most importantly, he is a different horse in company than alone. When with a workmate, he is eagerly competitive. When alone, he simply goes around without any particular zeal. His attempt to challenge a worker the other morning on the main track was hysterical. And he also knew on his first trip across Union Ave. that there was something different about the main track than the Oklahoma traing track. It was obvious that he was on the muscle and wanting to do much more when he was on the main. Gary and Paul are very happy with Harold. The clockers at Belmont and then in Saratoga have repeatedly asked Paul about who he is and an official name for him, so someone is impressed with how he goes. Chuck can fill us in better on King, but both likely have more growing to do and continue to show promise. |
Thanks. Is Harold back at Belmont now?

Redboard went a nice half in 50.3 this morning in company with Gondorf. The track was pretty heavy after more rain last night and we didnt ask the horses for much speed but they did it nicely and galloped out strong. He was a little winded afterwards but overall the work was nice. We are hoping for a start sometime this fall, either at CD or Philly Park.
