there is precious little separating Bode; Another and CC from each other
my heart screams another since i want to go to a belmont with big meaning my wallet says watch the board and play the odds
i am surprised bode is opening at 8-5 i dont think he gets away easy and his lack of bottom may cost him dearly here

puck - I think the opening line is a little overblown - bodie and IHA will share favoritism at 2-1, CC will be a close 2nd at 5-2 and Went the Day Well will be 5-1 by post in my opinion. And finish close to that. Another short priced Preakness I'm afraid. Daddy Nose Best may well get a pace if the send IHA to press Bodie, but I'm all over CC here, post=position+pace=:$: (but judging by my what is left of my KY Derby bankroll, don't put any real stock in that opinion :o:o )

If Bodemeister and I Have Another are both 2-1, CC is 5-2, and WTDW is 5-1...then the rest of the field, if all the same price, would be about 65-1 each. If anyone is lower than 65-1, then the price on the others would be even more astronomical. Really don't see that happening.

Agree with you on Creative Cause.

pucknut 05-16-2012 09:26 PM

rude
perhaps i used CC and another in the derby i like them back here
bode may well prove the cream of this crop but at those odds and with his lack a seasoning i wont be buying his stock
and zetterholm will be in one of the 234 slots this has Dutrow class hike cash ticket all over it
run well!

pucknut 05-16-2012 09:30 PM

ps devils are playing some nasty hockey this has seven written all over it

RockHardTen1985 05-16-2012 09:53 PM

Ill play 2 pick 3's and 2 pick 4's ending with the Preakness. Bode will be heavily pressed and CC is my only backup. Now I just have to find a way to get live to that race. I would take a break till the Belmont if anyone but Bode or CC wins this race. Thats a no posting at all break. That includes the Derby winner also.

That is exactly right. Those odds don't add up. You can't have two 2-1 shots, a 5-2 shot, and a 5-1 in an 11 horse field unless every other horse is 80-1.

I think Bodemeister will be 8-5, I'll Have Another will be 3-1, Creative Cause will be 5-1, and WTDW will be 8-1.

Should be nice weather this weekend, so hopefully scratches are minimized. Otherwise, this could become a relatively sorry card.

preakness undercard, home to N1X races that would regularly be carded as 15K claimers @ N2L on tuesdays

Bodemeister to play the part of Hard Spun. Went The Day Well stars as Street Sense. I'll Have Another as Curlin. Got my Belmont seats hopefully for a historic day.

slotdirt 05-17-2012 04:28 PM

I still don't get the Went the Day Well love, but what do I know?

There's just one problem- I think the only way any of them go to the Belmont is if I'll Have Another wins Saturday. I think regardless of result Bode and Creative Cause skip the Belmont. Do you guys think O'neill has any motivation to run I'll Have Another if he doesn't win?

Yeah, it would be called locking up the 3yo Eclipse by winning the SA Derby, Ky Derby and Belmont.

I scratched my head when I saw that. If you're wheeling back in two weeks, why not try the Preakness?

tywizard 05-18-2012 09:53 AM

Smith said he'd try the grass after derby.

slotdirt 05-18-2012 09:54 AM

I'm all for trying grass, but there are lots of options out there for 3YO's to give the lawn a shot: why squeeze him into a race on two weeks rest?

My assumption is he wants to be involved in the biggest race day of the year in Maryland. Given the fact he's a local guy I guess that would be the rationale.

Damn, I would have went to Pimlico if I knew that BT was the Kegasus.

Calzone Lord 05-19-2012 07:28 AM

The first four legs of this Pick 5 are absolutely brutal.

Not only can I not find anything even close to a single in any of them ... I'm also having a lot of trouble eliminating horses.

It's very annoying to me. Like one potential landmine after another.

Sometimes a card can be "too good" when the main attraction is a multi-win bet like the pick 5.

I like Pretension to give value to the exotics and based upon what I've seen here I probably am the only one in the world to think that.

I just got them off of Twinspires, so it might be an Equibase issue.

It Preakness day dude those first 4 legs will probably be won by 3 favorites.

Calzone Lord 05-19-2012 10:59 AM

It's a very slow track based on what we saw in the first dirt race today.

Solid starter alw males -- the 4 length winner had run figures of 77-88-82-76-80-78 in his last six starts.

They went 25 for the first quarter and the 8.5f race broke 1:46 for the final time.

Unless some work is done on the track -- the fractions and especially the final time will be very slow this year no matter what.

Calzone Lord 05-19-2012 11:03 AM

Based on that race -- a 1:50 flat for 9 furlongs on this track would be about a 108 Beyer type race.
