Albarado: Injury DOES derail wknd mounts; JV gets 'Kingdom'

Robby Albarado, who sustained facial injuries including a broken nose when thrown Wednesday, has had agent Lenny Pike inform Graham Motion (Animal Kingdom) and other trainers that he will be OK to ride Friday and Saturday.

Off all his mounts today. Bouquet Booth in the Oaks is happy!

Now that would be an interesting first winner for him.

That's a good break for Johnny V..

I'll play an animal kingdom/mucho macho man domestic violence exacta.

Merlinsky 05-06-2011 01:11 PM

I know this isn't quite on topic, but it's a positive bit of jockey/wife news.

Joel Rosario and his wife Breanna just became parents to their first child, a boy named Liam Ray. Congrats Joel and Breanna!

Won't be quite ready to dive back into those shark infested waters when he's 16. Too soon.

Johnny V picks up...

...the mount on Animal Kingdom.
Does he split the purse monies w/ Robby Albarado?

Inquiring minds want to know.

My selections finished second, third & fourth.
Why didn't I add this horse w/ a jockey change-always an angle I consider.
I'm a Dumbass

Tri & Super paid balloons

helicopter11 05-07-2011 06:15 PM

Why would he have to?
Johnny V was not the reason Albarado was bumped off. The owners made the decision to bump Albarado so IF anyone should give money to Albarado, it should be the partners. However, they are not obligated whatsoever to do so.

You're right about karma. It never fails to come back and hit you in the a$$.

South Beach Luv 05-07-2011 06:24 PM

this doesn't deserve its own thread, but have you seen the movie?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1313092/

would def recommend as it is a good one (mafia mom boss got a best supporting actress Oscar nod).

analyizethis 05-07-2011 07:47 PM

SInce Robby got bounced off the mount after the entries doesn't he get paid? Any idea what?

Linny 05-07-2011 08:13 PM

Lots of irony in this one. Irwin was worried about Robby and replaces him yet Robby rides today, and wins. JV was to ride the favorite for his main man Pletcher only to have him withdraw, freeing up JV for Irwin. JV gets his Derby for a guy (Motion) for whom is not a regular rider.
I guess the question is; would AK have won for Robby?

Yes, I'd think so. He was definitely best today and didn't really require a lot of rider input. JV mentioned several times he would take care of Robby though.

He might not have to take care of him. I'm not 100% sure how this works but couldn't this be a double jock mount fee situation, because Albarado was named and if he is taken off by the owner, then the owner has to pay a double jock mount.

Again, I'm not 100% sure how this stuff works as I have never seen it happen but I've heard of it.

Does JV stay on AK for the Preakness?

Based on the possibility of Mo going?

I would think he would stay on unless Mo does go. It would not be unprecedented.

I think that JV will be on Animal Kingdom regardless if Mo runs or not.

I want to believe that Pletcher and JV have that sort of relationship that Pletch would give JV his blessing on trying to win the Triple Crown.
Or maybe I'm just being very naive.

I think that is probably correct too, but you'd have to think Gomez winning the Preakness on Mo might be uncomfortable for all in the future.

slotdirt 05-09-2011 10:40 AM

One has to go back only two years to find a Derby-winning jock take a different mount in the Preakness.

If Mo's going to win, I'm hoping that it's Dominguez in the winner's circle with him.

I can't imagine that Mo will make the Preakness.

randallscott35 05-09-2011 10:56 AM

Why does anyone believe he will EVER run again.

He will likely press the pace and finish way up the track in the 2012 Breeders Cup Classic, duh.

hockey2315 05-09-2011 11:54 AM
