:tro: I went looking for something like this last night but ran out of steam and went to bed.
Thanks again.... |
Is the Miner's horse of Zito's being pointed anywhere
|
According to the DRF, Alexis Barba has changed plans with her two prospects. Alphie's Bet will point to the Santa Anita Derby while Make Music For Me will wheel back in the Lane's End. Not sure if that means the latter will go for the Blue Grass afterwards.

Am I correct in reading that Rule will end up with only one prep on his schedule?

He has already won the Sam Davis, he will run again before the derby. |
Sorry, mistyped, meant two preps. I knew he won the Sam Davis. Toss.

Make Music For Me pointing to Lane's End (Turfway, 3/27)

Now Make Music For Me is pointing for the Blue Grass, not the Lane's End.

I think I read that the Derby isn't on Zito's radar for Miner's reward. As Steve said, he'll probably go in an allowance, and assuming all goes well, will prep for the Preakness in the Cliff's Edge Derby Trial.
That shouldn't surprise because the CEDT is sponsored for the first time this year by LaPenta in order to promote his stallion, The Cliff's Edge. It should be expected that he would want to have a promising up-and-comer run in that race. Miner's Reserve makes perfect sense, I would think, because he's promising, he's an up-and-comer, and he's really just a little bit too far behind the 8-ball, experience and earnings-wise, for the Derby to be a realistic target here in mid-March. I like him a lot. I hope they do well with him. |

Worked 6f yesterday in 1:11.1 on the heels of a 7f jaunt in 1:25.2 last week. There's no timetable or defined target, but he's fine. |

Thanks Steve,I thought I read somewhere that he was hurt. |

Per Bloodhorse,
Walden said Drosselmeyer will run next in the $750,000 Louisiana Derby (gr. II) March 27 if they decide to enter Rule in the $750,000 Florida Derby (gr. I), which is the way they are leaning right now. If Rule goes to the Louisiana Derby instead, which is a possibility, they then would race Drosselmeyer in either the $800,000 Sunland Derby (gr. III) March 28 or the $500,000 Illinois Derby (gr. II) April 3. http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...r-drosselmeyer Article does not mention Rule running in the Wood Memorial. I believe I read in a David Grening DRF column that Super Saver may go in the Wood after running in the Tampa Bay Derby Per Jeremy Plonk's ESPN.com column, Also in the Lane's End: NORTHERN GIANT, VOW TO WAGER, QUIET ALL AMERICAN, CODOY, IN THE PAINT. Also in the Louisiana Derby: The Program Also in the Sunland Derby: Nextdoorneighbor Illinois Derby (April 3, Haw): I'VE GOT THE FEVER. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/hor...emy&id=4987825 Doubles Partner in Lane's End. For the Louisiana Derby, add A Little Warm and Mister Mardi Gras per Marcus Hersh DRF article. |
What Derby is I've Got the Fever prepping for.....the Claiming Derby?

McPeek will keep Noble's Promise and Beautician at OP for the Arky Derby and Fantasy respectively...

I wonder if we will get a Noble's Promise/Lookin at Lucky rematch in the AR Derby. The Fantasy is shaping up to be a nice Grade 2 and nice Kentucky Oaks prep with Beautician, Blind Luck, All Due Respect, Decelerator, and No Such Word (Honeybee winner) most likely pointed there. Unfortunately, the race is on a Friday -- I will have to take off work early to watch this key Kentucky Oaks prep. The Apple Blossom will also impact my work schedule the following Friday. I am really looking forward to Saturday's Bonnie Miss if both Christine Daae (who had a nice workout today) and Amen Hallelujah both go. |
I know Matz was saying they didn't want to ruin Lentenor for one race (the KY Derby obviously), but is he going to try a Derby prep with the idea of considering, say, the Belmont down the road?
|
We've got our first Illinois Derby contender!!
Schoolyard Dreams. |
I think you can pencil Dean's Kitten in for the Lane's End.

geez
per drf.com....three month layoff into the Derby???????
Homeboykris training up to Kentucky Derby Dutrow said his other top 3-year-old, Homeboykris, will train up to the Kentucky Derby. Winner of the Champagne Stakes last fall and third-place finisher in the Remsen, Homeboykris's only race this year was a second-place finish to Radiohead in a Feb. 27 allowance race. "I'm not going to run him back until then because I'm afraid he'll blow his race," Dutrow said. "The first time we run him it was off a three-month break, and he ran huge." |
Quote:
Dutrow can't actually think this horse wants a mile and a quarter, especially running off a 3-month layoff in a 20 horse field. |
Dutrow could start a goat in the Derby and it would probably be less than 90/1.
Heck, if IEAH buys the goat - and Borel rides the goat - and Dutrow tells reporters "This is the best goat I've ever trained..I might go all in, babe" .. I think you're looking at about only a 12/1 shot. A few columnists might even pick it to win the race ... but a lack of dapples and a very weak 5th generation pedigree is sure to keep it from replacing Interactif and Awesome Act from the respective 3rd and 4th spots they currently hold in the 'Haskin's Derby Dozen' top 12 list. |
anyone konw where Tiz the One is headed ?
