Aldebutante finds a home! (And then returns...)

Today was the day we've been waiting for. Your resident princess, Aldebutante, finally found a home deserving of her. A wonderful girl named Heidi is taking her home to Georgia for a slow retraining as a hunter. Heidi seemed smitten at first sight and Aldebutante was so well behaved, like she knew this was the home she wanted. I am *so* happy and relieved...just wanted to update everyone. Heidi promises to send lots of pictures and videos of the princess when she gets her home!

Good news, thanks!

onebadbeast 01-19-2010 02:08 AM

that makes me happy, and sad at the same time..

Danzig 01-19-2010 06:24 AM

good for aldeb. i hope she enjoys her new pursuit.

cabvmd 01-19-2010 08:02 AM

Great job finding her a new home. Not an easy task in this economy.

All ex-race horses should have this opportunity.

Do not forget when you get a "wind fall" at the windows (like hitting one of Steve's pick 4's or pick 6's) send some of the profits to your favorite Horse Retirement Group- -ReRun, Old Friends, Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation etc.

All new Dee Tee'ers, contact Steve to get a DeeTee Stables magnet for your car.

All proceeds go tho Old Friends. Check out the Silks magnet fund raiser link in the forum.

Good news.

Ryan, please let Heidi know that that many of us will want to know "what's up" with Aldeb in her new career. How did you connect with Heidi?

Heidi is well aware that she better keep us updated, haha. She's such a sweet girl. You guys would really like her.

She contacted me from an ad I had posted for Aldebutante...we stayed in contact through email and phone calls until she came up to look at her. :) Everything just worked out so well.

And I just got word that she has given her a new name..."Georgia Legacy"...

She'll always be Deb Deb to me. I miss her, even if she wasn't the most affectionate filly in the stable.

Good news she found a home - keep us posted!

AeWingnut 01-19-2010 06:26 PM

I love the picture with her tongue sticking out.

Glad she has a home.

SuffolkGirl 10-23-2010 06:55 AM

Thought I would let you all know that Aldeb (I think she is called Georgia Legacy now) has gone to several shows. Her first show she was very nervous but has since settled down and seems to be enjoying her new life. Heidi is very much in love with our girl.

Best news I've heard today (unless I hear that Ausable Chasm won her race). How do you track these things?

Thanks Steve - i didn't take it, her new person, Heidi took it. I thought it was a fun picture showing "Legs" just being a horse and having a good time doing it!

pmacdaddy 10-29-2010 01:51 PM

Great pics. Glad to hear things are working out well for her.

ALDEBUTANTE needs a new home

Heidi just posted this for Georgia Legacy, nee Aldebutante. Thought I would share it here in case anyone is aware of someone looking for a lovely TB mare.

I don't know why she is for sale and have asked Heidi. I will let you know what I hear

Riot 03-14-2011 04:39 PM

Wow. That's a shame. I can't take her. I'll ask my H-J friends in KY. She'd make a good kids/low hunter type.

Edit: I sent the links and left a message with a H-J trainer friend, who'll be coming back hauling horses through Georgia from Florida winter shows next weekend.

Hope she finds a place where we can still keep track of her!

doll0608 03-14-2011 07:13 PM

Just a quick update on the situation....Ryan called me earlier today about this as she found out the same way as everyone else. Just to point out before Heidi took Aldebutante home her father signed a contract that stated she could not sell her without first contacting Ryan to allow her to purchase the horse back. I also believe that in the contract if Ryan cannot find a buyer she is to be notified as to where she is going. I am not sure of the exact details as I was in the middle of a thousand other things so when I find out I will repost.

LaReason 03-14-2011 09:11 PM

Cherie thanks so much for updating. Dee Tee-ers, Heidi called me today about this situation...apparently with the expenses of college coming up she doesn't have the finances available for Debbers anymore...since I (and in turn, all of you) have a first right of refusal, she is offered to us before anyone else can look at her. I am in the process of talking to a few people in my area, and I encourage you guys to spread the word. I want to keep her as close to us as possible. She is as you know an incredibly special mare and I'm sick over this situation.

Sightseek 03-14-2011 09:55 PM

Sorry guys, but anyone willing to give up a horse for a $1 doesn't have the best interest of the horse in mind.

I hope someone is able to find her a home, she is a very pretty horse.

Riot 03-15-2011 12:13 AM

I don't think she's asking $1 for the horse, it says "price negotiable" and I think she is placeholding with the $1. She may very well be free to a good home, but I'm sure she would like some money for school if she could get it.

Killer price is still $500, and that's what one has to worry about when selling any horse. Let's hope our beating the bushes gets her a home where we can keep an eye on her!

LaReason 03-15-2011 08:42 AM

Dr. Beth is right, she's not selling her for a dollar. That website makes you list a price and she put a dollar bc she wasn't sure of a reasonable price for her. After talking w her she decided on around 3K if dhe could get that but her main concern is a good home I have sent an email to the director of CANTER to see if she could help us out in any way. Keep fingers crossed for good news today.

SuffolkGirl 03-15-2011 08:50 AM

Heidi is sick over the situation and feels like she just doesn't have the time to give Aldeb the time and attention she needs, which will only become worse when she heads to college.
I let her know that the DTers were advised and are looking around.
I wish I could take Aldeb as she really is a pretty mare, however, I need to sell my place in Vermont before taking on a horse. Know anyone who wants to buy a ski place in the Mad River Valley? :-)

LaReason 03-25-2011 03:53 PM

Hey guys,
Just got a text from Heidi saying Aldeb is off the market. She decided she is a once in a lifetime horse and is going to keep her. Hopefully that's the end of this issue and we can rest assured that she's not going anywhere, because I was making myself sick worrying about her!

I noticed she started a new blog about Legacy so I was hoping she had a change of heart. All good news :)

As some may have heard today on ATR, we have Aldebutante back. Quick action by Ryan alerted us to Heidi needing to get rid of her within 72 hours and we picked her up immediately in Georgia. She was brought to KY and will layup at Dr. Allday's farm in Simpsonville until we can get get her re-adopted.
