'Aldeb' spins a.m. eye-catcher

Dee Tee's Aldebutante, now 5 months removed from knee surgery, announced her return to serious training Sunday at Churchill-Trackside with a :35.2 breeze under wraps. Our 3yo daughter of Aldebaran galloped out the half mile in :49.0 in taking her official first step toward her sophomore debut.

"She's back," said Chuck. "Cherie said she (Aldebutante) felt just like her old self. I was really pleased. She was under a hold and worked like that. She would have needed to be stoutly restrained to work any slower. It's a very encouraging work."

The $50,000 Keeneland September Yearling (2007) cooled out quickly and was feeling particularly good after the drill according to Chuck. "She probably only need about 6 works before a start. We'll look for something in early-mid July."

More from Chuck later...

Great to see Aldeb back and working like she did this morning at CDT.

Best of luck...

Looks like that knee surgery was just what she needed. These are some pretty solid works. Can't wait to hear more.

Kasept 06-01-2009 10:49 AM

Aldebutante worked Sunday in a perfectly even :48.0 half mile yesterday... Did it on her own without company and under no urging. Galloped out 5f in 1:02.0. Cooled out quickly and was her usual leaping, squealing self afterwards. Returned to the track this morning with the pony and was very good. Cherie said Aldebutante was more relaced in yesterday's effort than in the work the previous week and feels good under her.

One noticeable change in the filly since last fall is how much taller she has gotten. As a result, she is covering a greater amount of ground with her longer stride. She is scheduled to work one more time on the 7 day schedule (6/7) before tightening up to a 6 days work tab (6/13; 6/20; 6/26). At that point, she ideally could be approaching a start for early-mid July.

Any idea what tracks you're thinking of running her?

Arlington or Colonial

Riot 06-09-2009 05:38 PM

I spent the day in Louisville, and got to see Aldebutante and RB King (or Run? small star, looks like Smarty Jones head, chestnut, think it was RB <g>, though Run had a star/stripe, but Chuck or Steve can correct).

Anyway, Aldeb looks terrific: sleek, muscled and shiny, and was also very friendly and affectionate and calm - good for her! And RB was very sweet and friendly. I said hello from "everybody" :)

Sorry, no pics, recently got a new digital camera, but forgot it! Argh. Maybe later in the week ...

Chuck will offer details, but slowish work more a result of his telling Tony Farina to keep a hold of Aldeb. Chuck was pleased that she didn't fight Farina's "6-5".. Cooled out quick. Stiffer work next week, but continues to go well in anticipation of her 3yo debut.

pointman 06-20-2009 12:29 PM

Very nice!! She is looking great on her way back!

herkhorse 06-27-2009 07:33 AM

did she work today?

Kasept 06-27-2009 12:28 PM

Just spoke to Chuck. Aldebutante went a sharp half in :48.0 and 5f in 1:01.3. Cooled out well. Continues to look good in advance of her three year old debut.

herkhorse 06-27-2009 08:21 PM

So will she be going on Saturday barring any of the million things that could possibly happen between now and then?, not to mention the weather?

She is pointed there still. Weather wont be an issue as we will run regardless.

Kasept 06-28-2009 12:31 PM

Workout was a day late getting listed publicly... :zz:

The 1:01.3 was 6/16 at 5f. The :48.0 half mile would be good for 2/35 had that been her target.
