I'm guessing that based upon his comments to Mike & Mark this morning (actually yesterday) KM will not be looking to keep Charitable Man headed for the Derby.
|
I would say Dunkirk is safe even with the Lex still to go.

With Old Fashioned and The Pamplemousse out, I think Regal Ransom is more likely to go now than at any other previous time on the Derby trail. Godolphin said initially that both could go and would ship, but maybe one to the Derby and one to the Preakness.
They are both at Churchill now, and have been for a few days, and I think they might be encouraged to send both if they are training well. |

I will be shocked if Giant Oak doesn't go to the Derby. My guess is his work next week will be really good and they will go
|
Charitable Man is out of the Derby? I wonder if they will change their minds if he runs well in either of his next two starts, obviously the Lexington and Withers, as clearly what he really needs is three pre-Derby starts to get into condition.
I just hope this year's e-mail gets wide distribution. |

Is JoJo going to the Derby even though he stopped badly in the Bluegrass?

i was actually thinking the exact opposite. thought the illi derby was a must win, also if i remember correctly read something along the lines of the connections being more likely on the side of NOT running in the derby, but can't recall where hail yeah.... dunkirk is in...... the dunkirk vs. quality road rematch battle royal, everyone else is just battling for 3rd place money:rolleyes: -bt- |

Mr. Hot Stuff may now have enough earnings to get in as I don't think Massone is even nominated to the Triple Crown (connections stated they were pointing for the Snow Chief Stakes). |

Terrain is not Derby bound...at least in KY.

I don't understand the decision to not run Terrain. The horse is nearly a lock for fifth place.

As far as the other horses with a shot getting in, what happened to Flying Pegasus after the LA Derby? Summer Bird isn't nominated I believe, although I would assume Pletcher and Zito would both jump at the opportunity to send "Take the Points" and "Just a Coincidence". And as much as Imperial Council may have had an excuse in the Wood with his pre-race meltdown, I don't see Shug sending him to Churchill (although he did work at Belmont yesterday, so he must have come out of the race fine). |

Ah Lukas. I enjoyed Steve Haskin's remembrances on his trip to the Derby with Charismatic. http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...under?id=50129
Love him or hate him, he's a pretty fun character to have on the track for the Triple Crown. I can't help but get nostalgic. As long as I've followed racing, Lukas has been in it. |

So that we're not completely off topic, looks like Flying Private could get in. Where is he on the Ten Cents a Shine--Charismatic spectrum of Derby horses from Lukas? |

it's look less and less likely there will be 20 horses in the field this year.
