I suspected after the first 13 minutes that he was overrated.

A bunch of hype!

Mortimer 10-29-2008 02:51 PM

ror!!......You agree??

God I hope so....I can't really take the guy.A huge phony....great natural talent, but not the player he is and has been made out to be.

And I believe he's his own biggest fan.

I completely disagree here and i hope i dont end up getting vaporized.

Lebron is one of the smartest players in the league.

Yes..that's why he insists on hurling up his 3 point bricks.

That's why he insists on shooting not matter how bad it is.

He also is smart enough to make himself at least acceptable at the foul line...ah don't thank so.

He's also smart enough to continue the same old act he always has...and that is to stand there and dribble away seconds while he mesmerizes his teammates...and then rushes a wild shot or gets picked.

Any smarter and we'd be under .500.

He is what he is at bb.

Your view of that is not the same as mine because you don't see what goes on night in and out.

Mortimer 10-29-2008 03:10 PM

Oh no.

I just realized this going to lure HOC in here like light to anywhere.

I agree that ANY bball player in the League should make AT LEAST 9 of 10 free throws.

Thats why they are FREE.

Liberals should be the best at free throws though.

9 of 10 free throws? You do realize that Larry Bird and Michael Jordan would have failed this test.

edit

you were just messin with mortimer.

sorry

Any smarter and we'd be under .500.

Look at his supporting cast.

How many players have taken a team to the NBA finals with THAT cast?

Mortimer 10-29-2008 03:25 PM

I'd settle for 8 from him.

The truly great wing players ( not centers and pf's) do it.

The truly smart players don't dribble off seconds while mesmerizing their teammates in game 7 of the ECF only to go driving into the lane against the best def. bb team in the league with the game on the line ....only to have to throw up a prayer...that didn't get answered.

This is one of the smartest player in the league..mind you.

I actually think there is no reason for any professional basketball player to miss more than 1 free throw out of every 10.

Its pathetic, easy points, and they are supposed to be pros.

Its like a freaking extra point in FB.

Dala...JESUS!!

Are you ,too ,going to come back with that garbage?

Every nincompoop on here says the same thing.

Why did Garnett fail with Minnesota then? Where did he take them to?

Do you REALLY think the Cavs played Boston the toughest in the play offs with one guy? Do you really think ONE guy played defense that well against all of the Celtics??

What you said is straight out of the nba Star Enhancement Booklet.

Every sheep puppets out the same thing. What it does is make excuses for James..that's all.

I think even Wallace could have bagged better than 23% from the 3 line in that series....and even 34% overall.

No I wasn't...because I didn't say that.

I said I would settle for 8 out of 10 with James...something all those guys did.

James may not be 100% perfect. But he's a hell of a bball player.

What did you think of the Olympics?

8 out of 10 is the absolute worst a guy in the pro's should shoot from the line.

I mean look at Shaq! He's an embarrasment! How hard could it be to PRACTICE the free throw when you play BASKETBALL for a LIVING!

Hell of an athlete...it takes a great team player that is smart and a hell of an athlete to be considered a great player.

I didn't watch the Olympics.

I didn't watch the Olympics.

Lots of guys that you probably wouldnt consider "team players" that were considered great ball players.

lebron isnt one of them. He is a great team player.

dalakhani 10-29-2008 03:52 PM

im not even a big Lebron fan. I personally dont find his game aesthetically pleasing to watch. I think he whines too much.

there are other players that are immensely more exciting.

Agent Zero being up there.

Dala..you can pump out canned comments, but I have seen this guy too many times. Why not explain away the things I'ved said? I'm sure you must have seen the play very late in game 7 I already mentioned. I have seen that same play countless times---and he almost always fucl<s it up. Talk about that.

These are some of the reasons he gets booed in Cleveland...and they are legitimate. Oh he doesn't like i.tFalse gods never do.

I don't like him at all..you are right about the whining;that's his character. He's great at pretending to be mortally wounded, too. It's the Judge Ito in him.

Arenas. He certainly isnt better but he is a lto more fun to watch.

I like watching Jamaal crawford of all people. LOL. Watching him is the bball equivalent of reading the national enquirer.

Mortimer 10-29-2008 04:06 PM

Oh...I don't know all that much about the other players, but I do know Wahsington has played Cleveland very, very tough in the playoffs..I do like that team.

The owner loves James and I honestly think the coach here has his hands tied on many things.

I wish they would have traded James because I do think we could swing something making the Cavs better.

I don't think there is any way he is staying here after next year.

Mortimer 10-29-2008 04:11 PM

OK...discussion over between you and me. I won't declare a winner because I don't think we changed each others minds.

Now I have to put up with HOC later.

He makes me so angry!

It will be interesting to see whether he stays or not. I hope he stays. I think that cleveland can win several championships with him. Again, i am not a fan. Here in washington we have a crybaby cam when he comes to town.

I just respect him as a player. I dont know what kind of trade you could ever work out to get value for Lebron James.

I don't either. I don't know the teams that well. It just seems to me a 3 or even 4 way would bring us a plethora of good ,team players. Maybe I'm wrong on that.I don't respect him as a player...and I like your cry baby cam .

Frankly...we don't need no stinking championships here.

Just wanted to add that a lot of free throw shooting is not practice but it's mental. Remember Nick Anderson? He was a somewhat aggresive player and shot his fair share of free-throws. While he was never to be confused with Steve Nash, he was a consistent shooter at around the 70% range. Then came the 1995 NBA Finals. He went to the line late in the game with Orlando leading and missed four straight free-throws. His team ended up losing in overtime. The next year, he did close to his norm from the line but then early in the 1997 season, he had a chance to win another game from the line. He missed again. He said from that moment, he was terrified to go to the line. His stats showed it. His play showed it. He lost all of his aggressiveness because he didn't want to get fouled and have to go to the line. It was mental torture for him. Check out his numbers and how they changed.

First seven seasons:
He shot on average of one ft every 8.85 minutes and was at 69.5% career

Next season:
He shot on average of one ft every 23.01 minutes and was at 40.4%

During his first seven seasons, he shot a high of 74.1% and a low of 66.7%, with three seasons over 70%. After that, he shot 40.4, 63.8, 61.1, and 48.7%.

Shaq is another example. He's never been great but I had a friend that played with him and he told me that they charted his ft's in practice and he shot over 65% one year and over 70% another year. Yet in those same two seasons, he shot 55 and 53% in real games.

I'd be willing to bet that a big part of James' problems are mental. He knows the criticism of that part of his game. You put so much pressure on yourself to silence it that sometimes you do yourself more harm than good. Then when you miss a pressure one, you start thinking "here we go again."

Mortimer 10-29-2008 04:39 PM

I know you don't like me you unfriendly poster,you...but that was good.

But the great wing players....one of the many things making them great is their mental toughness and/or will to win.Maybe it's the same thing.I think that attribute is like physical talent;either it's already in you or it's not.

I don't think James has that.
