Im hitting it fairly well and been working on the short game alot. Sobering reminder today though as to how short I am compared to todays standards. Played a practice round with a couple of friends, one that played the Nationwide Tour back in the late 90's and the other one played the PGA Tour full time back in 2003. They were only hitting 40-50 yards by me off the tee all day.:o

GBBob 07-16-2008 07:57 PM

Good luck Kev'...drive for show, .....

Bigsmc 07-16-2008 08:01 PM

To break the ice, when you're on the first tee, ask your playing partner, "Wtf is with the name Garrison?" That should get you off on the right foot for a pleasant round. :D

Good luck Bro.

Yeah...crazy stuff. I have no idea who either of those two guys are..never heard of them. They are in for a treat tomorrow playing with me:rolleyes:

philcski 07-16-2008 08:32 PM

Good luck dude!!!

Nothing worse than the LAST tee time of the day, though. At leasat you'll get to watch the British coverage :o

MaTH716 07-16-2008 08:33 PM

Good Luck tomorrow Kev. Just enjoy the day, there is no pressure on a guy that is 50,000-1.

Thanks bro. That was my immediate thought. I normally don't like teeing off that late because I tend to get antsy and start thinking too much. Hopefully watching that in the morning will set me in a good frame of mind for the day.

Me too... however I remember my first college tournament I was in the last group, and wouldn't you know it I started off birdie-birdie-birdie! Just stay at the hotel and hang out till noon. Don't even look at the scores coming in, just do your normal routine. I think if you see the early scores you'll try too hard to match them and if the first couple holes don't go too well you'll put too much pressure on yourself.

ddthetide 07-16-2008 08:46 PM

keep your tee shots down the middle and don't leave your putts short.
GOOD LUCK!:tro:

golfer 07-17-2008 05:47 AM

Kick some ass today Kev!!!

Heels1989 07-17-2008 06:01 AM

Best of luck Kev. Play well and have some fun.

herkhorse 07-17-2008 06:28 AM

"feel the draw of the fairway"

Good luck man, par those first 3 holes and you are on your way.

Putting was awful. Took 39 putts today:(

Hit the ball great tee to green. I hit 12 of 14 fairways and 13 of 18 greens. I was a complete mental midget with the putter in my hand.

I figure I need to shoot 69 tomorrow to make the cut. Tee it up in the morning and see what happens.

Scav 07-17-2008 08:39 PM

Putter needs to be talked to......

Turn the f'n brain off and just feel the putts, works for me....

Bigsmc 07-17-2008 08:45 PM

Please, please don't talk golf advice from Scav. The big chicken hasn't earned it.

I, on the other hand, earned it last year in Toga. My advice is for you to follow my lead and use a putter that was found in a garbage can. It's worked for me for 32 years. :D

Good luck tomorrow Bro. Do they flip-flop the tee times? Are you first on the tee tomorrow?

It aint the putter...its the puttee. I stayed with my routine all day....just nothing wanted to drop. It would be different if I hit the ball like sh*t..but I was hitting the ball on the screws.

They do flip the times, but I am last off in the morning wave. 9:27 off the 10th tee.

I know my limitations, after hearing about the performances, I would have been a 5k claimer against opt claiming 32k's

get off the f'n internet and get ready to shoot that number

GPK 07-17-2008 08:55 PM

I think of the 21 scores under par today, 18 of them were in the morning. Greens dried out in the afternoon and were much firmer than they were this morning. Golf course played hard...but not 81 hard.

You must have heard wrong. I am a MCL4k at Finger Lakes.

Kev, at what age do they (golfers) not know what hitting one on the screws means? Or better yet, what year was the last club made with screws on the face.

How old is Garrison? If he's young, quiz him on the first tee tomorrow and throw him off his game. "Say Garrison, do you know where hitting one on the screws comes from?"

It's kind of like saying "Dial 1-800-Total Crap" to buy something knowing there hasn't been a rotary phone manufactured in years. People 25 years old have probably never "dialed" a phone.
