Big Brown's Front Wraps?

Does anyone know why Dutrow front wrapped him at the Kentucky Derby and then raced with them in the preakness? Do you think he could possibly be sore?

Haber is legit though ATeam, come on. he is the hot horse, the whole world wants to see a TC winner.

I can't stand the connections/trainer but I would love to be able to say that I saw a Triple Crown winner live, at the KY Derby....I am rooting my ass off for him...

What? I like Haber, but this has been discussed and rightly dismissed before, and it's yet another pointless Big Brown thread.

Read above. Nothing personal, this is just an unnecessary thread. We all make them.

I wish I could but I need to get a decent bankroll to try and do that...hopefully I get some grad money so I can start....still need a job though when I bust that.

Speaking of wraps...anyone had the snack wraps at McDonald's?

Thoughts?

FGFan 05-19-2008 05:00 PM

There you go, article and an excerpt....:)

http://timesunion.com/AspStories/sto...date=5/16/2008

Dutrow caused a bit of a stir when he announced Big Brown would wear the bandages in the Kentucky Derby. He said he uses them to keep the horse from clipping himself on his right heel and causing what he says is a burn, or a blister.
"We should have used them in the Florida Derby," Dutrow said. "It's not a big deal."

Habersham000 05-19-2008 05:15 PM

thanks FGFan!

..........mcdonald,s has lost it with their " trying to appeal to the hip hop crowd " commercials.......iced coffe and those bogus wraps.go back to the super size days. stick with a well known comodity......the mystery meat jack taco.

The horse apparently ran down a bit on both hinds in the Preakness on Saturday. Just for whatever it's worth.

BINGO!!!!!!!!

After all the trivial/peripheral ****, we finally have a winner.

I noticed that as well, yet have heard no mention of it prior to this.

ntheiroff 05-19-2008 08:00 PM

I believe that he "ran down" in the right front.

What does that mean exactly?

It's basically the equivalent to a nasty rug burn ...

Sometimes when a horse's hooves hit the ground, the fetlocks can drop so low that they literally scrape the ground. I'm not sure if this is what is happening to Big Brown, but it may explain the wraps.

ELA 05-19-2008 10:32 PM

There are other reasons horses wear front wraps. Of course, I am not saying there are other reasons here in this case. However, I'd look to Chuck Simon to answer the question and talk about this.

He wears wraps up front, he ran down in the hind legs.

Actually, he wears them on his hind legs as well.

Bobby Fischer 05-20-2008 06:31 PM

I could go for a "wrap"
ham, mustard, shredded provolone, lettuce, tomato, sour cream/ salt&pepper in a flour tortilla wrap

yea, maybe turf would be easier on Brown. However pretty soon his insurance will exceed the purse structure and retirement is looooming:o

Perhaps you can expand on this point as finally we are starting to deal with horse racing BTW Mr. Fat Man wouldn't it be nice to speak freely on the internet with folks who respected you, felt you added to their person horse racing experience, and were willing to enlighten you as well on both a horse racing and comedic level? If you look at this picture, you can kinda see where he ran down on his hind legs (in the pastern area.)

That is actually a great shot. To bleed through the bandages is fairly signifigant.

...and the effect will be a Casino Drive surge inside the 1/16th pole.

The offshores have The ACE at 9-2. That will be a steal.

I'm just amazed at how these slick wall street guys end up on the track next to Big Brown. As though they are needed there for their equine expertise.

Must be the roids, making me aggressive again :D
