whos runs with war pass early ? i want to try to beat him, i like giant moon, roman emperor, and a few others, but does it even matter ? if no one runs with war pass early, can he be defeated ?

jcs11204 04-03-2008 03:43 PM

i think laysh gets a perfect setup in the bayshore, but i will respect j be k, on the cutback and drop down.

jcs11204 04-03-2008 03:45 PM

looks like kiran controls the 8th, with Angliana and wafi city, if wafi runs back to his last he crushes these, but he also could bounce, im going to say he does but still goes fast early and sets it up for Angliana

ateamstupid 04-03-2008 03:45 PM

If the track is dry, War Pass is beatable. If not, I don't think he looks back.

jcs11204 04-03-2008 03:47 PM

carter is brutal in my opinion, what to make of spring at last ? why not dubai ? he gives weight to all, i dont know, its a hard way to end the pick 4

its such a hard decision... key him in the pick 4 or go deep ? it can help make or ruin your day, because i dont see any other single anywhere in the sequence

Dry track, I go about three- or four-deep. Wet track, I single War Pass in the Pick Four and maybe hedge in a Pick Three.

This is after a cursory glance at the card though. Once I get the TG numbers, I'm gonna do a write-up of the stakes and see what jumps out at me.

:D

Texas Wildcutter with a bigtime jock improvement. Just seeing the trouble line last out makes my blood boil.

Inner Light will run with him...maybe. If not it's lights out.

Oh..you too? Maybe this time the jock will keep riding the horse all the way to the wire?

fpsoxfan 04-03-2008 07:34 PM

Outside of War Pass, I'll be interested in seeing how Texas Wildcatter, Court Vison and Tale Of Ekati figure into this mess. IMO this shapes up to be one of the more intriguing races of the campaign.

NTamm1215 04-03-2008 07:56 PM

Maybe I'm naive in thinking so, but isn't Inner Light in there just to run with War Pass? He has the exact same ownership (IEAH AND WinStar) and really has little chance to win the race outright. It's also awfully precarious that they put Chucky Lopez on him. That means he will most likely be gunned, if Chucky can get him out of the gate.

I'm also under the assumption that InNer Light was entered to ensure there is a quick pace and that War Pass does not get an uncontested lead. C Lo pretty much seals the deal as he's going to ride like a bat out of hell.

letswastemoney 04-03-2008 08:39 PM

Nite Light must think he's sprinting by only being in a 9 furlong race instead of the insane distances he specializes in.

jcs11204 04-03-2008 09:28 PM

if inner light goes, which it seems like he will, he actually should be sent hard with cc, i feel the next most likely winner is court vision,

philcski 04-03-2008 09:55 PM

You know, I have this odd feeling about War Pass. There's a horse that he REALLY reminded me of last year, between his progression and absolute domination of his competition at 2 with monster figures. Unfortunately, at 3, he's again followed the same progression as the other champion.

Pedigree Ann 04-04-2008 03:54 AM

The difference between War Pass and Devil's Bag is that DB was bred to run long and improve with age, whereas War Pass isn't. DB was a full brother to Glorious Song (a champion at 4 and 5) and to Saint Ballado (won the Arlington Classic at 3), so a dominant 3yo campaign could reasonably be expected. War Pass's stakes winning half-sister Oath was a G1 winner at 2 who didn't train on at 3, and we haven't seen Cherokee Runs (like Kafwain) get better with age.

The fact is, pedigree or not, Devil's Bag did NOT get better with age- he ran slower as a 3yo and lost to horses he destroyed at 2.

In my opinion, pedigree is a great tool to determine what should happen when horses try new things, but once he/she attempts a new task that actual performance should take precedence over pedigree.

JJP 04-04-2008 09:09 PM

The Excelsior looks very weak.....looks like another race that deserves a downgrade.

pgardn 04-04-2008 09:18 PM

How is it that Tale of Ekati is the morning line
2nd choice in the Wood?
Does anyone really expect this much improvement?
I know his first time back was a Pyro moment but what the heck?

I dont take much stock in these.
But someone has respect...
Why is this warrented?

i think your wrong. its a nice group of heavy hitters, with a up and comer who could be special

ok slick, off of his last why not ? marina market came back to win, and wafi's last number was big.

NTamm1215 04-04-2008 11:41 PM

Personally I think Wafi City is highly unlikely to run even close to the number he did last time. He was the beneficiary of a perfect trip and considering he's a horse that has been unable to run three races without a layoff, I think the chances of him matching that effort are minimal. He will have to be sent very hard from the outside unless Cornelio is interested in going wide. It's also worth noting that Alan Garcia has chosen to ride Angliana.

If you're shopping for a longshot or even a mid-range price I think there are other places to go, especially with two very vulnerable favorites in Magna Grad and Nite Light.

i never said i like wafi, i just said he could be a up and comer...
i will be using Angliana as my key choice and possibly throwing in 2-3 more for the pick 4, Angliana is super tactical, can sit close early or come from way out of it, if the pace is hot. i feel he's the most likely winner. he should be all of his morning line, with 2 pletchers and wafi

His last race was impressive visually and it was fast. Now, the second place finisher was a bomb who isn't much and Wisp, who ran third is no win machine. I'm just not too excited about betting him at what will probably be around 2-1, especially with the quick run to the turn. He could definitely win, but he's not special IMO and this is not a field of heavy hitters.

i never said i liked him, and yes you did try talking me off prussian

i lost 32 dollers today a pick 3 and pick 4 for 16 each.... which i would not have hit either even if prussian did win

I've seen classified allowance races that were stronger than this phony Grade 3.

The Bid 04-04-2008 11:51 PM

Almost any horse you back goes up in flames like a defective firecracker

jcs11204 04-04-2008 11:51 PM

whatever, its a competitive group, nice betting race, you can catch a nice price and still make money in the pick 4 with war pass keyed

jcs11204 04-04-2008 11:52 PM

even though im leaning towards keying court vision

Im not, Im not trying to be mean. Ive seen you stop too many for it to be a random. You need to take a bottle of holywater to the track with you
