07-02: KEE 4th yields 4yo filly!

Dee Tee 02 will try again today (Friday) to find that elusive runner at Keeneland...

Races 2 ($25k 2yo), 4 ($20k open CLM) and 8 ($25k open CLM) are the events that Chuck will be working for the next horse in Lime and Royal...

More closer to post-time, but meanwhile, interested parties can scour the PP's to match wits versus Chuck!

pmacdaddy 10-26-2007 07:24 AM

I like one in the 8th at a bit of a price, but what the hell do I know... Curious to see if he gets any attention.

Good Luck!!!

Hickory Hill Hoff 10-26-2007 09:17 AM

The one's I would look at are;
GOLD APPEAL (2nd)
THAT'S A SECRET (4th)
SWEET STRAWBERRY (8th)...that one I like the best also!

Tell us why you like those. That's half the fun of claiming - try to paint a picture of changes to make, what conditions are available if any, why you think the horse can be improved, how can you get out of the horse if you need to, etc......

sumitas 10-26-2007 10:48 AM

I selected Kickin and Screamin in the 4th. She's only had 6 races and her first one was this April as a 4 year old. She's been consistent. Her numbers are steadily improving. She placed on dirt, won on turf. Today she tries the aw again. She is by the cancer stricken Chester House, a Mr Prospector turf star. Although the world is not short of the Mr Prospector line, Chester House is o/o Toussaud which adds a sparkle to this pedigree. We all know Toussaud. Chester House, in his all too short tenure at stud, has produced a generous amount of black type. K&S bottom line is average but are producers of durable black type including G1SWs Rest Your Case, Shes Sofine, both o/o 3rd dam Dame Fritchie, and SW Our Emblem with 142 starts. Dame Fritchie is also the 2nd dam of G1SWs Optimistic Gal and Bates Motel.

pmacdaddy 10-26-2007 11:32 AM

The one I liked was Native Ruler in 8th.

Even if the return to Poly is unsucessful, appears to be useful on Turf. Previous Poly tries were against pretty classy bunches and right before / after layoff, so those may not be a true indicator.

1M seemed a bit much off the bench., maybe just needed one. Class drop seems unsuspicious. Anyone know Smithwick's win% in claimers?

Mama was an earner across the pond. If he takes to addition of blinks or Poly, that's just a plus.

That's my novice selection, based on the paper...

On the wagering side, I will try a few win dollars on Why be Quiet in the 2nd at a price.

No..

Chuck eyeballed the colt(s) and passed... He HAS dropped on a filly here in the 4th which he liked going in and believes he can quickly improve...

We are likely to get her as there appears to be no other claims... Will give name/number closer to post time...

That's true!

And we did....

Won a three way shake for Kickin N Screamin, a 4yo Chester House bay filly out the Wolf Power mare March On Again.

Congratulations to Chuck and the Dee Tee 02 partners...

TC loading her up for the drive back to Churchill right now! More from Chuck when he gets home.

When more then one person wants to claim a horse, they have to shake for it, picture a yatzhee bottle with numbered balls in it, they 'shake' that bottle, and the first one pulled out is the winner and claims that horse

31lengths 10-26-2007 02:08 PM

Well we finally won a shake. The filly is slightly built and a bit nervous but seemingly sound. Sumitas makes some good points as she has shown some versitility in her brief career and has made slow progress in her figures without yet making that leap to where she is a better class of horse. As much as we all crave action with this venture, we also did not want to get into a situation where we claim a horse and need to give them 3 months off or worse and in this situation I think we did fine. She still has all her conditions including allowance and conditional claiming races which gives us a lot of options. I also believe that with a little care and a patient rider, we can move this filly up the ladder a bit. I dont know where we will run her next as I want to try to get her going in the right direction first but Tampa on Dec 15 or 28th could be a goal. I am not sure she is good enough for allowance horses at FG but they usually have claimers for Fillies and mares but the genius racing secretary has none in the first condition book for fillies though he has 3 for colts. I dont think she will be ready to run in the first condition book at Churchill but there may be something in the second one later in the meet. All in all I think we did ok with this filly and if we can move her just a bit in the right direction we will have some fun. Plus we still have a couple bucks in the kitty and may be able to squeeze out a $5k claimer or something like that.

stevepopyak 10-26-2007 07:08 PM

Congrats to all involved.

trifecta124 10-26-2007 07:15 PM

Awesome news.....The filly does look versatile. Chuck, might we try her on the turf in the spring?

SuffolkGirl 10-26-2007 07:32 PM

welcome Home Kickin' and Screaming

We are so glad to have you here. Maybe she'll turn into a Maryfield for us - boy did I love that exacta today!!!
