Your ONE Derby Horse

OK, the posts are drawn, the field is set. Who is your ONE PICK and why.

NO exacta's, NO trifecta's, NO Pick 3's or 4's. Just one horse to bet to win.

Mine is HARD SPUN. Great value, good post, should sit a good trip with his speed, bred to run all day. The OP race really wasn't bad from a figure point of view. Hey Stewart Elliot did it, why can't Pino?

Scurlogue Champ 05-02-2007 06:13 PM

Circular Quay.

Because he is the best horse.

2Hot4TV 05-02-2007 06:15 PM

After the draw I will play Hard Spun and hope he's all that.

Rudeboyelvis 05-02-2007 06:17 PM

I'm with you Rob. HARD SPUN IN A ROMP

Nobiz Like Shobiz....fits all the angles, has the PF and drew well. He's never run a bad race, I think he wins this although Street Sense would not surprise me! Go with the value and play Nobiz.

Hickory Hill Hoff 05-02-2007 06:18 PM

After careful consideration...Street Sense
post makes sense...form makes sense...and with Curlin on the inside & AGS on the out...winning makes sense!

Street Sense really fits being a duel qualifier and has run 12 second splits for a distance of ground and is dead game coming home.

I think the post is perfect with the speed outside of him
he gets good position

PeteMugg 05-02-2007 06:37 PM

I'm on the Hard Spun bandwagon, as well. I like his post position and I agree with LJ the he just has a high cruising speed. I think HS's work reflected that plus his like for the Churchill surface.

fpsoxfan 05-02-2007 06:37 PM

Still the same as it's been for several months..Circular Quay

Danzig 05-02-2007 06:40 PM

hard spun
been watching this guy since january. he's fast, has the right pedigree to go the distance--danzig has his preakness and belmont winners, now with one of his last chances, he gets his 'triple crown'.

hard spun. stakes winner #195 for the claiborne legend.

jpops757 05-02-2007 06:46 PM

Win on CQ but I will have some others with dbls pk3 and 4s. With a choice of only one and the opening odds it CQ.

ALostTexan 05-02-2007 06:47 PM

Scat Daddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Swale84 05-02-2007 06:58 PM

Any Given Saturday
Post is a concern, but think he can get a trip with Gomez

Hard Spun = Swale

That's how this race will be run. Up close, then just pull away.

hockey2315 05-02-2007 07:04 PM

Hate to agree with everyone else but I think Hard Spun is the choice. . .

TheSpyder 05-02-2007 07:04 PM

The Cat!

King Glorious 05-02-2007 07:07 PM

Curlin

Cajungator26 05-02-2007 07:16 PM

Gotta stick with Scat Daddy.

Coach Pants 05-02-2007 07:26 PM

Street Sense

miraja2 05-02-2007 07:47 PM

For me it is either CQ or Street Sense.
If I have to go with just one........I'll say.......CQ.

lemoncrush 05-02-2007 07:52 PM

My heart says Circular Quay, but if you put a gun to my head, I've got to say

Street Sense

jman5581 05-02-2007 08:07 PM

Curlin, bad name for a Derby winner, but oh well.

Rileyoriley 05-02-2007 08:08 PM

Tiago-only one who made me say "wow" in a prep race and I've always done well betting the Pleasant Colony line at CD. One of my favorite bloodlines.
Will also be cheering on Nobiz and Bwana Bull with their Halo bloodlines! Deb

litlady02 05-02-2007 08:14 PM

I'm jumping on the Hard Spun bandwagon, due to his sparkling work this week.

randallscott35 05-02-2007 08:14 PM

Wow, all this love for Hard Spun is very much killing me. I really like him but I get pause from the overwhelming support. And you can kiss 15-1 goodbye with this kind of support.

I'm not of the opinion the work was a positive...but not a negative either. If Pino uses him early his chances are gone.

brianwspencer 05-02-2007 08:20 PM

I've really taken a liking to Hard Spun as the week goes on.

But no changing my thought on who my one derby horse is -- Street Sense. After finally closing my jaw last November I knew he was it, and nothing has happened to change that assessment.

Brian, once again, you made me sit on my hands to avoid posting what I REALLY thought. LMAO

swedejxn 05-02-2007 08:42 PM

I am in agreement and working nobiz and hard spun with these two.... in my plays good luck 2 all

ddthetide 05-02-2007 08:56 PM

after the post draw i like Nobiz but Street Sense would not surprise me at all.

ArlJim78 05-02-2007 09:03 PM

after searching long and hard for a creative alternative, i'm standing with Street Sense for the win.

My mistake I thought Street Sense was in post 16. I love Street Sense from the 7 hole. I will use S.S. and C.Q. with the all button.

smuthg 05-02-2007 09:12 PM

i hate the post, I still like Any Given Saturday...

and besides, 10 (Giacamo) + 8 (Barbaro) = 18 (ANY GIVEN SATURDAY)...

Samarta 05-02-2007 09:13 PM

Hard Spun or Street Sense.....maybe a gate to wire photo....who the hell knows....is it me, or does this Derby seem much more wide open then those of recent history.....over the past several years, there was always 2 or 3 horses that the "experts" could kinda come up with either a feel good story or the makings of a rivalry...this year they could pick about 10 horses. it's crazy...

gales0678 05-02-2007 09:15 PM

Any Given Saturday - GG will have him in the back and he will just be in an all at drive to win at the wire by a length of Liquidity

hi_im_god 05-02-2007 09:21 PM

i'll go with the other asmussen. sure he'll need to run the a better race than his last but seems to have improved from 2 to 3. i'll throw out the fade on poly last race and just note he was a head behind the 4-1 2nd choice here.

this is an average group. they have all run relativly slow. if curlin doesn't dominate i think it's more wide open that the top 5-6 everyone is talking about.

zanjero.

AngelSita 05-02-2007 09:24 PM

Hard Spun just because I like him.

shanej974 05-02-2007 09:32 PM

Street Sense. Sometimes it just makes sense (no pun intended) to pick the best horse. He's the real deal. It might just be me, but a lot of people seem to be almost apologetically picking other horses. To make a poker analogy, I'd rather play with the better hand and SS is it.

That's your exacta boxed! :)
