GOD CREATED HORSES TO BE WORK ANIMALS, NOT EXCLUSIVELY, BUT THEY HAVE WORKED FOR HUMANSD SINCE THE DAWN OF TIME....A THOROUGHBRED IS A HORSE.....PERIOD....

It isnt going to change overnight. That is insane to think of. It would take decades to change the breeding habits. I gurantee you that Storm Cat will be worth the same or even greater in the near future.

I agree, but the thoroughbred was created by humans. Human experimented until they discovered the thoroughbred. They wanted a horse that could go long distances with very little water. And I dont think God ever created horses to be work animals. I dont think God said hey let me create this animal so humans can stick a 5 foot person on him and whip him so people can gamble and make money. I also dont think that God said hey let me create this horses so people can find it easier to plow their fields, or to get to point A to point B faster. That is crazy.

Quite frankly, I'm a fan of the Storm Cats even though they are very fragile creatures. They run their hearts out, and I wouldn't mind riding one of those talented hot heads.

I wouldnt own one. It is just my opinion but I think he is one sire that the racing world would be better off without. How many horses by Storm Cat do you see running past their 3 yr. old year?

3) What is the formula for determining value of a sire before a stud deal is done?

4) Since the reformed tax legislation in the 80's which reversed the previous practice of being able to write off all horse racing business losses along with all other business losses, has ownership increased or decreased in thoroughbred horses?

1. $40k
2, 5%
3. E=MC(squared)
4. Decreased

Pretty sure about #3. The rest, not so certain.

I have trouble feeling sorry for anyone who spends 3 million on an animal.

I agree. I think Storm Cat and his fee is bad for horse racing.

By the way, Did your mom name you DaHoss?..Or is this Michael Dickinson?

Do you really think the public wants to be taught from someone with your attitude...Maybe you come off differently in person, sometimes it's hard to tell someone's tone from a message board...If I was just coming to this board, I would take it that you shouldn't post here if and have an opinion and can't have an educated opinion, unless you are in the "industry"...

Some people can't post their names, because they aren't able to identify themselves on a public message board, I know I can't...

Besides, who cares what someone's name is, I am just a fan that loves the sport, nothing more, nothing less...I think I have an understanding of things and love to learn...What good would it do to know mine or Dahoss's name if that's what we are...

I want to know who everyone is because when I become rich I am going to name my horses after people on this board.

Very good post Joel and 100% accurate. Nothing is worse than the people who simply mill around with this stuff saying 'too bad, its the future'. What a load of bull****. Its as simple as having an inner and outer turf course at these tracks. If they were to run the turf races on this ****, there would be no difference in the results. Its a joke, a real laugher. Shame something so stupid has to tarnish a good track like Keeneland...

Or those guys who own crippled claimers who explan we have to have it so their horses who shouldnt be racing in the first place can run every two weeks.
As if thats "for the good of the whole game".
