Under pressure, that choker can't control junk pitches. That's what Rollins said he knew. Said she has a slider, but she's not been able to throw it to him for a strike. Look at the last pitch of the Cardinal series. She has enough movement on the fastball, but when she gets to choking, then it's "still lake." I know her problem. She's a highly talented choker.

OMG Swisher up with the bases juiced. I wonder if Girardi told him to do a Rudy Stein (bad news bears) and throw himself into the ball.

MaTH716 10-22-2009 10:27 PM

Holy S.hit how bout taking a F'n strike!

What a horrible loss for the Yanks. You can feel the noose getting a bit tighter after tonight.

He really is the worst. Then he doesn't send the guy. On top of that, if they didn't have TWO freaking pinch runners on the roster, they could've had Hinske pinch hit for Swisher, who can't hit a beach ball right now.

I think Swisher struggled against the Tigers in the 2006 ALCS. People repeat their ways.

Joey, they get to win the ALCS at home. They have to go home anyways. It's better to keep playing than take a week off. Obviously, you don't want to lose again though. For some reason , the Halos aren't that entertaining for me. They are sort of the Stepford Team.

He really is terrible. He wouldn't pinch run for Posada the other night, but he takes out the best player in the playoffs (who can run, mind you!) and then doesn't steal with the guy. He doesn't know how to manage a pitching staff either.

I wish he had Hinske on the bench too, but he's lefty and Girardi would have probably opted to leave Swisher up there to bat cause he's a switch hitter.

Not only didnt he steal, he was taking about as pathetic a lead as possible. Crippled Bill Buckner took a bigger lead than that.

How did you forget Al Martin? My first thought when you mentioned the 2001 Mariners was whether any team had ever lost three players the caliber of Griffey, A-Rod, and Randy Johnson through free agency. Then I realized they went 116-46 after losing all three of them which makes it even more mindboggling.

I really tought the Dodgers would fold like the cheap suit they were, but some how they managed to put together a pitching staff that let them stay in a game. I am still amazed they got as far as they did.

The Angles will surprize thier fans when they let some free agents go this year. I would be shocked if they signed Figgins or Vlad.

Oh, they have plenty of pitching talent. They simply choke when Philly forces them to throw strikes. They are gunna have to work on their control, because the really top teams know the organization is soft at teaching command. If you don't have command, and it gets exposed, then you see guys like Ruiz getting those fkn cookie hi fastballs. They must get Kershaw, Billingsley, McDonald, Broxton, Sherril etc. to be able to throw their junk for strikes. Is this not obviously the problem? They should fire Honeycunt, and get someone these guys fear, respect, or worship. Be that a Greg Maddux, or whoever. I'll tell ya something, they could do worse than getting Hershiser in here. Dave Stewart might be a bit too much, but they need someone else in their ear. Honeycunt is being too grandma. They need some intensity. When you see Brox say "It's just one of those nights" (when asked about blowing the pivotal game 4 for the 2nd year in a row,) then you get the definite feeling there is a lack of accountability involved here. Where they lack talent is on offense. It's easier to get talented pitchers to be male than it is to get some just "o.k." hitters to score a lot of runs in the post. Other than Ethier, there aren't many particularly good hitters here. Furcal is a good fundamental player, but he presses too much when he faces tough pitching. Kemp is getting better, but he still is mainly a guy who needs mistakes. Manny has aged 5 years in 1 year. That happens. It really isn't that important during the post right now, because the pitchers can't throw junk for strikes. Loney was the one guy who handled the pressure the best. That shouldn't surprise anyone. He is really smart, and the 2nd time around at doing something, he had control of his mind. The rest mainly failed the same test. Loney will eventually manage an MLB team.
