Any chance there's a max field of 16 going to post at the Belmont?

While I don't by any means think he is THE horse to beat CC, I have to include among those with a chance. He ran very well in his past two races without getting what would be an optimal trip for him. If he's allowed loose on the lead in the Belmont, he's very dangerous. If CC is used a bit to keep up with him, than it helps the chances of the closers late. Win or lose, SI could be a big factor if entered.

I like the out-of-the-box thinking, but Palace Malice would chew him up and spit him out at this point in their careers.

Sightseek 05-20-2014 12:30 PM

Danza out. He is being sent to Ocala for some rest.

asudevil 05-20-2014 12:39 PM

Danza Out

Per Pletcher. Off to Ocala for a rest.

tector 05-20-2014 01:18 PM

Shocking!

It is safe to say that no Pletcher horse will ever be a threat to win the Triple Crown.

asudevil 05-20-2014 01:38 PM

They'll be more. Watch , the race will have 8 starters.

I have to agree.

Social Inclusion is probably a Game On Dude type that needs the lead to show his best, but I don't see a problem with the Belmont Stakes distance for him.

Rudeboyelvis 05-20-2014 02:30 PM

Danza out of the Belmont

Blood Horse alert TAP unhappy with the way he cane out of his workout

Ring Weekend will pass on Belmont

Ring Weekend, fifth in the Preakness, will not run in the Belmont Stakes, trainer Graham Motion said Friday. Prior to the Preakness Ring Weekend won the Tampa Bay Derby and was second in the Calder Derby. He was forced to skip the Kentucky Derby after developing a temperature two days following his final workout for the race.

"I don't see any need to come back in three weeks and run him a
mile and a half," Motion said Friday from Fair Hill. "We got lots of options, grass options, dirt options."

He will, it is still early

geeker2 05-25-2014 09:14 AM

Intense Holiday this AM

David Grening ‏@DRFGrening
Intense Holiday was walked off the track and walked onto the equine ambulance which picked him up at the gap.

Kasept 05-25-2014 09:41 AM

@StarlightRacing: Intense Holiday has suffered a condylar fracture. He'll undergo surgery but is expected to fully recover. Still, prayers help...

Bummer...typical recovery time?

letswastemoney 05-25-2014 11:04 AM

Pletcher has zero hope then. Commissioner is a fraud, as I only used to think he had talent because of the hype on Top Billing.

Stickhorse 05-26-2014 02:37 PM

Candy Boy out now,; he'll point to Los Alamitos Derby.

retired.
which i figured would be the news.

GenuineRisk 05-27-2014 09:03 AM

I just keep hoping for a field in the single digits. The biggest fields in any Triple Crown year were both 8 horses.

My tweets, (and some re-tweets of Welsch), from workout session this morning..

Steve Byk @Steve_Byk Tonalist & Life in Shambles 5f together for @clementstable @ 1:00.0 on various watches. Belmont starter good. Easy Goer starter very good.

Steve Byk @Steve_Byk Idyllic lead to Crown try peaks for California Chrome in :47.3 work (Outs :59.4, 1:12.4, 1:26.1, 1:40.0). Couldn't have gone easier, looked better. & Cal Chrome came through stretch - with wind at his back - to cheers from the 250+ that turned out. Fun atmosphere of anticipation @TheNYRA.

Steve Byk @Steve_Byk Waiting on Social Inclusion splits but Wood/Preakness show pony was going at a serious clip..

Mike Welsch @DRFWelsch Watches still cooling down after Social Inclusion goes 1/2 from 3/8's pole in :45.13(:33.44 opening 3F), out :57.57, 1:10.93. & Main track obviously lightning fast this a.m. Decision on Social Inclusion's Belmont status pending.

Mike Welsch @DRFWelsch Samraat breezes easy mile over dullish Aqueduct main in 147.43 dragged rider around to 1/4 pole came home in 24.49 out another 1/8 in 12.17.

Ride On Curlin and Commanding Curve work Sunday..

Indian Charlie 05-31-2014 10:40 AM

I just saw CC's and Social Inclusion's works.

I thought CC looked great, then I watched Social Inclusion!

He did not look like a horse galloping out in 109.4.

That track must be facing downhill today.
