How good was Vickezzchardonnay? (God I love that name...) :D
|
Really good win, she's an awesome little mare.
Replay here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dpCYi0uXSA They're going to the G1 Auckland Cup with her now, and I think she's a big chance for that. She's already proven she can go 2 miles (3rd in the G3 NZ Cup in November). |
Thanks, ed!
|
Good luck, Sir Slick!
|
He could be a good chance, it's not a very strong field.
The 2yo race is very good though. I'm hoping Shuttleworth does it for the Moroneys. Oh, and Vickezzchardonnay came 4th in the Auckland Cup. |
Replays:
Diamond Stakes: http://www.ellerslie.co.nz/show.cfm?...wf&w=294&h=240 NZ Stakes: http://www.ellerslie.co.nz/show.cfm?...wf&w=294&h=240 The Diamond Stakes winner, Kaaptan, is owned by Trevor McKee - who used to train Sunline with his son, Stephen. Stephen trains this horse. :) |
Sir Slick was stunning!!!!!!! :)
|
Yeah, great performance.
|
He's happy to be back home, huh? :)
|
I guess so! He must still be getting tired though, this was his 91st race.

Poor baby... hope NDJ is alright... http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegrap...006070,00.html Wish Xcellent would update his diary! :D |
He was fantastic, but I think he's done enough. The owners of Princess Coup said she was suffering from "wear and tear", and she had 33 starts. He's had 3 times that many, surely he must be feeling the effects of it.
And yeah, I hope NDJ is back 100% fit again soon. |

He couldn't get close to a placing in Oz, and then goes back home and starts racking up wins. |

Jockey Troy Harris has been disqualified for 3 months for cannabis use...stupid thing for him to do, but I think the penalty is a bit inconsistent.
Last year, Darryl Bradley called the sponsors of a 3-race series with a $100,000 bonus to a horse that could win all 3 races the day before the third race (Fritzy Boy had won the first two). He asked them if there was something in it for him if he could ensure that Fritzy Boy didn't win. His penalty? 3 months. Are they really equal offences? I don't think so. |
Oh my God that's bullsh*t.

How good was Jungle Rocket?
I'd love to see a replay.:) |

Finally watched it... thanks, ed!
* * * Good luck to Mon Beau Cheval on Wednesday. Make your brother proud!!! :) :tro: |
Sadly, crack New Zealand racecaller and Australia native Darren Tyquin died in a car accident today in his adopted homeland where he called some great races with his strong baritone.
http://www.stuff.co.nz/waikato-times...ation-horrific This article mentions another accident, but covers DT's incident towards the end. I'm sure there will be much more written in the coming days. I had just spoken with him yesterday while online and have appeared on his radio show a bunch of times talking about American and Dubai racing. He had the thrill of his life just a week ago when a filly he owned, Missdaflight, landed the come-from-behind victory in her debut race as the longest shot in the field. If anyone logs in to the site below, you can watch the replay and hear an announcer call his own horse home at a big price with his friend, jockey Patrick Holmes, aboard. I was told that Holmes was the passenger in the car with him during the accident and was injured but not too seriously. http://www.nzracing.co.nz/Meetings/M...350/5#raceLink Race 5 is the one. I know he will be missed. |
Wow. Such sad news.
I didn't know him in real life... only on another forum a while back... a really sweet guy who would answer silly questions and had a great sense of humor. Prayers to his family and friends. I hope he didn't suffer. Just very sad news. |
Absolutely terrible news.
I worked with him a few times when I worked at Radio Trackside, he was an absolute pleasure to work with. |
My favourite of Darren's calls: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNBRlkm1bi8
He got a bit of criticism for a mistake he made in a race a few days earlier, and then in the most important race of the week he produces a perfect call. The best of the season. |
Some great performances by NZ horses in Sydney today.
Culminate was a very brave 2nd in the G1 Coolmore Classic, carrying 5kg more than the winner. Fully Fledged and Il Quello Veloce were 4th and 5th in the G1 (I think) Phar Lap Stakes, and both of them had terrible trips. Go NZ. :) |
Go, NZ!
|
Some people are calling this the race of the season:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQUK-wT8JhA Make up your own mind. :) |

Brilliant! It's just absolutely thrilling to see him back to his old self, even if he didn't win. God I love him. Thanks for posting the replay!!!!!!! :) |
Last G1 of the NZ season:
http://ellerslie.co.nz/show.cfm?swf=...wf&w=294&h=240 Prince Kaapstad! Great win. Makes it 5 individual G1 winners from last year's Derby field. :) Doubt this year's field will have that many... |

Will catch replay later... outta time. What do you think about our good Sir going to HK? Wish he'd stay home... :( edit - Confused... is he going to HK or the Doncaster Mile? |
Probably both!
I wish he'd stay here too, he obviously doesn't like being away from home. |

Sunline's little boy won today...
![]() It was a nice win too, he might be a stakes horse next season. |
Great news! Do you have a replay?
|
Of course. :)

Absolutely agree. I'm glad he didn't make the field for the G1 in Sydney today. He would have been humiliated again. :(
