Pertaining to Rick - I understand the opinion some have from watching 30 second snippets on TV. I can't claim to know this guy just because he caught my fastballs in high school 30 years ago. But I can tell you this - as teenagers, when he and his brothers liked something, they were all in. If it was a baseball team, a basketball team, or a 250 lb friend that entered disco dancing contests in 1975, Rick was all in. Whatever it was, he was all in.

That's the Rick I saw the last 5 weeks - all in.......

If he is all in, then he knows how to take the good
and the bad the media can present through snippets.
He was presented in quite a favorable light with his daughter.

But I think we all understand that when he associates with
a guy who has misrepresented himself numerous times...Mr. Stock Trader...
that Dutrow himself will be highly scrutinized.

Or heck maybe he just does not care.

That would be a good option. They could use softer whips. But I really don't think that eliminating whips would be so drastic that it would hurt business. I don't hear anyone complaining that they don't use whips in the 2 furlong two year old races out here. I bet there are plenty of people that haven't even noticed.

Where did you get your information? Is Hoffmans on the up and up? Touch Gold tore apart his hoof when he stumbled out of the gate at The Preakness, the same blacksmith that worked on him prior to the Belmont is the same one that worked on Big Brown for this Belmont. He has been quoted in numerous publications that what Touch Gold had was far worser than what Big Brown had. Anyway someone is not being completely truthful.

But they cut the last one off on each foot.

I may have just given too much information

Oh, he had six fingers also. Polydactyl bugger he was.

Shoot. I don't even know what the best way to play it would have been if I was confident that BB would run out. I rarely play exotics. I normally just bet to win and place. I guess if you were really confident that the horse would not hit the board, it would be smart to play some serious trifectas where you used a ton of horses. But even in that case, I still may not have used the winner.

I knew a guy in high school with an extra thumb on one hand. It was an endless source of bad jokes that involved tag team thumb wrestling and hitching a ride and having 2 cars pull over.

You cant use 2 furlongs races as a comparison for anything. You dont make major changes to the sport without a really good reason and i have yet to hear a really good reason. When the bettors start calling for the elimination of whips i will listen. Until then i think it is people being too sensitive to outside critics

Hofmans was the trainer of Touch Gold. He would have no reason to lie to my trainer in a private conversation. Hofmans said that the horse grabbed a quarter in the Preakness.

Chuck could do a 100x better job than me explaining the difference between grabbing a quarter vs. a quarter crack.

Cannon, Could you please explain the difference between the two.

Hey just to clarify I'm not questioning what you heard, I'm just saying there is a inconsistency in the degree of how bad Touch Gold's hoof was, infact it plagued him the rest of his career if I am not mistaken.

I agree with this. And yet, the snippets of "I'm confident" was a little over the top and agitating....

IEAH is his meal ticket right now so I can't fault him for his association. In a perfect world, it'd be nice to see him take stand once arriving at an informed opinion, if it was warranted, and tell IEAH to take a hike. But, frankly, I'm not sure Rick would understand what Iavarone does, or has done, other than seeing acheck for mucho dinero coming in every month. And if IEAH pays each month on time, that makes them an even more valuable consumer....
