Oh my. They are bringing in the rookie Price to face him.

dalakhani 10-19-2008 10:20 PM

where was he the other night? This kid is electric.

Cannon Shell 10-19-2008 10:22 PM

Best pitcher they have. Madden finally sees the light...

MaTH716 10-19-2008 10:24 PM

Is he going to pitch the 9th?

He comes out in the 8th inning bases loaded with the whole world watching against one of the better left handed hitters in the league that has been clutch during this series. And he throws...slider...slider and then 96 mph heat.

wow. This team is going to be scary for years to come if they can afford to keep them together.

Mortimer 10-19-2008 10:29 PM

I'm not watching.

he would have been in the majors in July if they Rays sucked. Didnt need him till now. They have Bay then all lefties except varitek. The only pinch hitters with a pulse Boston has are lefties (Casey and Lowrie)

Amazing thing is most of them are still several years from free agency. And the ones that get close that they can't afford they could deal for more prospects to keep the cycle going. They have such a stockpile of young talent that through shrewd trading they could stay a top team without having to pay them. Five years of success and they might develop enough of a fanbase to then start spending big money.

They dont have the park for it. They will certainly need a park and can you imagine that city helping to finance a new one?

They'll b a .500 team next year.

MaTH716 10-19-2008 10:33 PM

They will have to move to Orlando.

Cannon Shell 10-19-2008 10:34 PM

How about they start selling it out on a consistent basis before you start the whining about the city not financing a new ballpark.

Mortimer 10-19-2008 10:38 PM

I'm watching this on espn gamecast----they're still in the 4th inning there.

It's really great!

MaTH716 10-19-2008 10:39 PM

wow, that pitch was wicked!

LOL. thats not what i meant. Ive been to that ballpark. It is an abomination. It is an affront to all the things that are great about the game.

The city paid big bucks to build that stadium in the first place and it sat for a long time and I doubt they would shell out again no matter how good the team is.

No stadium, no money.

We won't tell you what happens.

The Bills game lost power today at the stadium and the same thing happened, so I was watching the helmets move on NFL.com about an hour behind the actual result...

GPK 10-19-2008 10:40 PM

Just an incredible series.

This Price kid is the goods:tro:

Congrats to both WS teams and best of luck.

Not a bad year all in all for my Sox.

My prediction....BJ Upton...WS MVP

MaTH716 10-19-2008 10:42 PM

Congrats to all the Rays fans on the board!

I guess Elvis is offically off the hook!

ror!!

I don't even know why I bother. You get nothing for 3 hours and then they post the whole game at warp speed and you can't even see what they are trying to say.

Mortimer 10-19-2008 10:43 PM

Good.

Now Philadelphia can kick their sissy as.s.

dalakhani 10-19-2008 10:43 PM

Hasn't stopped them from filling the place tonight. When they start getting at least 75% capacity every night then they can start their whining. They may be World Series champs this year with a 52.8% stadium capacity. People want a good team, not a bunch of empty luxury boxes (which they will be with the recession).

Mortimer 10-19-2008 10:44 PM

It's still not over on gamecast...I wish I could bet there.

This should be a lesson learned. No way this series would've gone 7 without this thread.

What are you talking about snipe? Im not arguing with you. My point is that they will never have the money to go get players or even sign their own without stadium dollars.

My point is if they can keep a young nucleus together that can compete for the next five years then they might average more than 22,000 a night and would be in a much better position to get a new ballpark. New ballpark or not they are never going to be better than 10-15 range in payroll, that's still a hell of an improvement over where they are now though.

F*ck Upton. I kept that prick in my keeper league after the '03, '04, and '05 seasons. Then I give up on him after the '06 season and he busts out.

They already have the new ballpark planned, just waiting on govt funds.

The Rays are the design of very good scouting and drafting. They have a window where almost every player of importance should improve and virtually everyone is signed. They really badly need a closer and maybe Edwin Jackson can fill that role because there is no way they will pay for Krod and there isnt much else out there at least in FA's. I believe Crawford is signed through next year but they only have Floyd and Baldelli as FA's this year. The rotation is solid with Shields, Garza, Kazmir, Price and Sonnastine. Upton and Longoria will get better. Scary team.

he didnt bust out during the regular season. the playoffs have been a different story

SCUDSBROTHER 10-19-2008 11:10 PM

Garza n' Price stepped up to put the REDSOX NATION asleep. They kept saying Madden didn't have anyone to shut them down late. He found a guy. That's what it takes to move on(no fear, and a very live arm.)

Isnt that the devil in the details? Tampa was yet another part of Florida that was hit by the condo speculators. I cant imagine they will have the money for a new park for years. Who knows though. Plus the plan is elaborate.

The funny thing is that the park they currently play gives them a nice home field advantage
