Broke well ...got to the front....Willie took her back a little...she briefly gives up the lead...takes back the lead....is running nicely in the stretch...gets caught a few yards from the wire and is beat a long neck

PSH 07-11-2007 04:36 PM

Game as always

Second again. Very game.... Never got much of a break as she took the lead after the start and crossed over to the 3 path. Took a little bit out of her to do that. Willie took her back nicely to third behind a couple of long shots and took the lead going into the turn. Opened up a little over the 8 horse but was passed by the 6 horse at the end.... Game effort.

I thought the plan was to rate her?

Is 46 and change fast at AP?

Danzig 07-11-2007 04:37 PM

man!

one of these days....oh well, hell...she's running in allowances and making money, paying her bills and keeping the condition.

but man.

PSH 07-11-2007 04:40 PM

I think

Willie felt compelled to make the move with her to take the lead because the 8 horse looked like she was making a move also. 7F is a tough distance to rate --- much easier at two turns.

Payson Dave 07-11-2007 04:43 PM

looked like he tried to back down the 2nd qtr...maybe waiting a bit longer to retake the lead might have been better

Pretty tough loss, I can't even imagine how heartbreaking that must have been for the crew in Chicago (unfortunately my flight got delayed four hours so I wasn't there with them). She ran great again though and keeps bringing home checks. Hopefully she can bounce back quick and we can get her in one of those interesting spots early in the Saratoga meet.

She is going to run in open alw race at saratoga next? that ought to be interesting.

If she ever gets that lead change down she will be dangerous! :D Didn't switch till right before the 1/16 this time.:(

Doesn't have to be an allowance. Steve and Chuck haven't said anything about an open allowance at SAR.

When absolutely no one goes out for the lead, what the hell are you supposed to do on a quick filly from the outside stall?

The first quarter was easy, but they started to pressure her after that and the second quarter was very fast. Willie took back and let Powder River and Lady Eloquence grab the lead, but not quite soon enough, because she still had to zip the second quarter. Not blaming him, he gave her a very good ride, she just seems unlucky.

this is all in good ribbing, but I am sure she lost to another stake horse today;)

Probably, the 3yo filly crop is so terrible that anyone that wins an allowance can easily step into stakes company without embarassing themselves.

Payson Dave 07-11-2007 04:52 PM

what were the fractions?

The Bid 07-11-2007 04:53 PM

I know everyone on here loves willie so I wont jockey bash, its very easy to do. I think she gave a huge effort and deserved to win. She wasnt beat by a better horse

man that is a tough one!!

she looked like the easy winner at the top of the stretch...

I wonder if Steve knew it is bad luck to be interviewed before the race (according to my horse owner friend John Perrotta).

Danzig 07-11-2007 04:55 PM

the other two that were with her up front early, last and second to last....
