Honestly I feel like Backstrom should have gotten more. I am using the Hagling and Shaw hits (which I honestly didn't think were flagrant) as the bar. Those guys got 3 games. Neal ran 2 guys the other night and Backstrom had a pretty serious stick foul. I just don't understand the logic. Let's see what Torres gets for running Hossa (it was a very similar hit as Neal's), I'm guessing it has to be at least 3 because there was an injury. But the lack of consistency has been appaling.

i just know from watching backstrom for the last few years that i don't remember him ever being dirty, or ever getting suspended. and he has had some head shots come his way. but yes, the lack of consistency is ridiculous-as is the lack of real suspensions for some of these hits.
but like i said before, crosby's back on the ice, and concussions and the like are on the back burner right now.

Stick fouls have always been frowned upon by the NHL, that's why Backstrom got the game.

GMGM won't dress an enforcer b/c he thinks he's ken f*cking holland of the detroit red wings.... they traded for a guy like King last year to sit in the press box and brought up Rechlitz for 2 games this season......not to mention John Erskine claims to not have spoken a word to hunter in 2 months.

Be this as it may, George McPhee was one of the toughest muthas to ever play. In his day he wouldn't have thought twice about taking on Lucic.

He never thought twice about taking on anyone, he and Rick Tocchet and he and Dave Brown had some of the best brawls I have ever had the chance to see live.

i'm not even talking about "taking on" lucic, i'm talking about straight up mauling him, ala carkner vs. boyle.
the guy was taking liberties all game, with everyone, and only got 1 penalty that wasn't a coincidental minor.
the officiating was not good at all in game 4 (and i'm not blaming the loss on that, b/c i'm not that person). So, if the refs can't police the game, let the players do it themselves, how sh!t was done in the old days, or i guess GMGM forgot about that.

* just an FYI, your star player shouldn't lead your team in suspensions
