 :(

These two races were good...
2yo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2gpO0m7aFs
Counties Cup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWtFFhLN5Cc

That Spicey Miss win was very nice, by the way. I don't think it was a strong field that she beat, so we'll have to wait and see if she's as good against better fields. But she looks talented.

my miss storm cat 11-20-2010 10:45 AM

:(

Oh man I wasn't expecting that.

I'm trying to think of something positive to say here and I guess she was only like 4 lengths back any way.

Brilliant, champion... no matter what she will always be both.

Maybe she's just tired now...

Have you heard any news about his nemesis, Military Move? His Derby win was amazing, and I'd love it if he did NZ proud up there. It's hard not to like him.

His first barrier trial was today...

He won. :)

Batch 4...

OK, before you watch the replay, I have to tell you about Jimmy. He drops way out to be last by 50 lengths, and he looks really distressed.

I can tell you it's not as bad as it looks - he had cardiac arrhythmia. They're going to do some heart testsand take it slow with him for a while. So whatever happens, he won't race for at least a few months, if he ever races again - he's pretty valuable as a stallion now, so I don't blame them if they don't want to risk it. Poor Jimmy. :( But at least he'll be OK.

Here's the race: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0GAnfh0IK4

Very impressive.

my miss storm cat 11-26-2010 12:01 PM

I couldn't sleep last night and came on in the middle of the night and read your post.

This is stupid but I didn't watch it cause I didn't want to get into bed with a picture of him looking... you know.

I appreciate the way you prefaced it... I really do.

I'll watch later.

Poor Jimmy. :(

clyde 11-26-2010 04:40 PM

Baby, at least he isn't going to fly with the youknowho's.

Just thayin'.

my miss storm cat 11-26-2010 08:29 PM

Yeah I know and I'm not meaning to be Miss Drama here.

It's just really a shame. Such a good horse.

I really don't want to watch it, ed. I just don't want to see him looking hurt.

Who won?

Hey I didn't realize Paco Boy will be moving out your way!

clyde 11-26-2010 09:36 PM

You're not....the last part,was that at me?

Hey I didn't realize Paco Boy will be moving out your way!

We Can Say It Now won the race. Nice to see her get one after she was bumped so badly in the 1000 Guineas (although I still think the winner had her covered in that race, so this result makes King's Rose look even better). Blinding second, Lady Kipling third, so the fillies finished 1-2-3. No excuses for any of the beaten runners, apart from Jimmy. I don't blame you for not wanting to watch it. I probably don't want to see it again either.

Yeah it's exciting about Paco Boy! He was a really good horse - just unlucky he kept facing Goldikova. Waikato Stud did well to secure that deal!

Hey ed where's our boy?

Where is the good Sir?

edit - Oh and I keep meaning to ask when is the Eulogy and what happened to last years winner? I can't remember her name (!).

_ed_ 11-30-2010 03:47 AM

Sir Slick is running in another G1 this Saturday - he's up against Altered Image in the Captain Cook Stakes. I think the days where he could beat that boy over a mile are gone. :( But I wish him all the best.

The Eulogy is Saturday 11 December. Last year's winner, Veronica Franco, has had some injury problems since that win. She did come back and win a race on the 19th of November, so maybe she's on the way back to her best. She's had 13 starts now for 4 wins and 7 other top-4 finishes.

clyde 11-30-2010 01:59 PM

Ed, on that Eulogy.

Please put up the horseys when they are announced....thanks so much.

clyde 11-30-2010 01:59 PM

If you now live in NZ it was.

Got it.

And you never,never know.

my miss storm cat 11-30-2010 07:36 PM

Yeah please, when you know both fields...

Okay I'm trying to count and I think this is around his 128th start? Is that right or is it an even higher number?

Ugh.

Is Fritzy Boy pointed to this race?

Oh my God are you kidding me?????

Brilliant!!!!! :tro:

Once again right as he crosses the line I can't tell what, exactly, the race caller is saying (and am dying to know).

Wow what an awesome and surprising thing to see first thing in the morning!

Made my day. I can't remember the last time I saw this guy win one.

Hahahaha yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(That's a great field. I want about half of them to win. Who is the favorite, Altered Image? We Can Say it Now? I think She Rules or Firebolt might do this...).

We Can Say It Now. She has a huge weight advantage, being a 3yo filly taking on the older horses here. I think she'll be hard to beat.

Altered Image is 2nd fav, just ahead of Firebolt, Fritzy Boy, Vosne Romanee, Obsession and She Rules.

Hahahaha oh thanks!

Now I need to watch it again.

Just amazing and beautiful and what a great, fantastic surprise!!!!!

Okay I love half the field like I said but sentiment (Sir Slick, Firebolt, Fritzy Boy) aside, I'm gonna say She Rules wins it.

She Rules / We Can Say it Now, Fritzy

Honestly? I'll just be happy for whoever wins.

Who are you playing? Hoping for?

_ed_ 12-01-2010 09:44 PM

I like Altered Image, Firebolt and Fritzy Boy, have lots of respect for We Can Say It Now, and I'm really hoping for a good run from Vosne Romanee.

I can never remember which big race this one won.

_ed_ 12-02-2010 06:46 PM

He won three G1s last year - the Spring Classic (called the Kelt then), Zabeel Classic and NZ Stakes. In those races the horses that finished second and third included Ginga Dude, Red Ruler, Tell A Tale and Harris Tweed. He ended up winning Horse of the Year, getting a couple more votes than Katie Lee.

But he just hasn't looked the same horse this year so far.

clyde 12-02-2010 08:50 PM

Ed...do you think Clydey is now primed to win at Hollywood?

Has it all been just getting acclimated and putzing around?

Or is he done?

my miss storm cat 12-03-2010 12:22 PM

Whilst it pains and saddens me to interrupt your oh-so-nice attempt to be nice to MY GOOD AND GREAT FRIEND ED I am wondering if...

2. if you've bothered checking the thread lately.

She does! I noticed that as well. He was an awesome horse.

Speaking of great dads, Darci Brahma had his first winner as a sire yesterday when Super Easy won a 2yo race on the Captain Cook undercard. :)
