You do know that he was injured in the Derby and that was his final start, right?

That's what I thought.

Nah, you made a couple shekels. Derby exacta paid $101 for $2.

I had win money on Scat Daddy and Liquidity (shut up, no comments please - I had a 'vibe' early in the season that a Tiznow would win the Derby) as well, so the exacta literally just covered my bets if I remember correctly.

Whatever, I loved Scat Daddy. :p

It's alright, we all have these strange Derby vibes. I had a dream the night before the Derby last year it was going to be Street Sense-Hard Spun-a pink silks Silverton Hill horse... and about 40 yards from the wire I felt like phuckin' Nostradamus. :o

No you didn't, you felt like an @$$hole when Sedgefield didn't get up for the monster tri and you hadn't played Curlin in third. :p

I would have much rather had that vibe than the one I had. Both Scat Daddy and Liquidity are still running ...

Perhaps Colonel John will be my Tiznow knight in shining armor this year. :D

Oh, Sedgefield was THERE for the MONSTER tri (watch the replay)... and I felt kicked in the nuts when Curlin got there (I did have it, but compared to the year before it felt wimpy.)

By the way, Ruffian thought I was smoking crack when I told her that Derby morning, then she proceeded to play that tri straight (those two over Dominican/Sedgefield.) She almost had a heart attack midstretch!

Sedgefield ran lights out in the Derby ... I was shocked at how well he ran.

I hated Dominican in the Derby ... poly specialist to the tee.

He was an OK horse that got an absolute DREAM trip. There's one bomb every year that gets that trip, that's where post positions (and riders) definitely matter.

He was one of the first I tossed.

In other words, don't listen to a word I say in regards to Derby horses. LOL

I still think he was a fluke, am amazed you had him on your ticket.

"I can think of about 20 horses that I feel fairly comfortable in saying they have no shot to win." (GPK said this)

So, Kev, are ya betting on Chalsie Whats-Her-Name on the pony horse? Cuz I'm right there with ya!!! I just hope Chalsie can hang on for 10 panels.

Anyway, I'm tossing a bunch of horses. Right off the top of my head....Cool Coal Man, Recapturetheglory, Cowboy Cal, Monba, both fillies, BehindattheBar, both Z horses. For some reason, I also cannot toss Anak Nakal. I can almost toss Colonel John,,,but not quite. Denis of Cork was my early pick,,then I just about gave up on him. But now(if he even gets in the gate)I'm back on him. But, really, at this point in time, I don't even care who wins. I'm looking forward to having a good time!

Unfortunately, the answer is NO...

"NOTE: Trifecta and Superfecta wagering on all races that qualify under Kentucky statutes. Daily Double, Pick-3, Pick-4 and Super High-5 wagers are $1 minimum straight bets. On Oaks Day and Derby Day the Superfecta is a $1.00 minimum wager. The Pick-6 is a $2 minimum wager all days. Also, Over/Under wagering will be offered on all races that qualify. 9 of the horse came from synthetic to the derby none were in the top 5 finishers

MISTERGEE 05-04-2008 07:54 PM

just wanted to add you could have had the super high five from the bottom up with prior race synthetics
16-bob black jack
17-gayego
18-big truck
19-adriano
20-monba

do they have that bet yet?

I'm not past posting here (you can check my other posts) but I'm not sure how or why most people seemed to toss out Recapturetheglory, or pick that how last in the "first and last" pool.

Here me out:

The horse figured to be sitting top 3 or 4 throughout. Lets say I would be off, with the horse sitting second. (I know the Illinois Derby was a merry go round, but the horse did come home in 35.2, with a 102 beyer) Did people really think that of the 16-18 horses sitting behind him that every single one would pass him? 3/4 probably wouldn't fire (just like in most of the preps).

So you'd be left with about a seven horse race turning for home, one being Recapturetheglory.

Let's say the horse is on the improve, feeling good. No traffic, straggly closers. I honestly thought this horse could hit the board. At least more of a chance than the other inconsistent closers, and some consistent ones that never tried dirt.

I never thought the horse could win, but dead last and a throwout seemed ridiculous.

Respectable race and edged out of the super.

I was completely wrong on him. Would have taken even money that he'd been in the bottom five and would have needed 600-1 to bet he'd be in the top five.
