No way. That one's on Longoria. He had plenty of time to throw and it was a terrible hop for Pena.

Cannon Shell 10-16-2008 11:16 PM

just your ordinary 7 run rally...

GPK 10-16-2008 11:16 PM

Did you see the bad throw portion? Pena cant let that ball go through him. You come off the base to block it to keep the winning run on 1st. Like i said bad throw but you cant ole it like Pena did. It is HIS responsibility to keep the ball in front of him or make the catch. hell they teach you that in grade school baseball.

Your right this time......it didn't turn out to matter here, but you have to stop that runner from getting into scoring position.....

De Ja Vu all over again:eek:

The Sox still don't likely win but that was pure heart tonight for the boys....

ateamstupid 10-16-2008 11:22 PM

I have to take partial responsibility for the mush in saying that it was over after Upton's double off of Papeldouche. Sincerest apologies to Bigs and Leo.

yes. You never put the winning run on 2nd with 2 outs because the runner gets a running start on contact which pretty much makes it impossible to throw him out on a single.

Tampa not having a real closer really cost them tonight. I really dont know why he doesnt use Jackson more. I know it is a tough time to put a guy in a new role, but Jackson can bring it.

If by 'it' you mean the complete inability to throw strikes, then I agree. He can bring it.

docicu3 10-16-2008 11:42 PM

Did we have a little Game 6 1986 WS here tonight......

All I know as a Red Sox fan Game 7 of the Mets-Sox Series was a forgone conclusion.....let's see if the Rays feel the noose tighten abit.

This has to hurt to lose a game you had 7-0 with 2 out that ends up 8-7 without extra innings.

This one has to leave a mark....

ateamstupid 10-16-2008 11:43 PM

Make up your ****ing mind. Either the Sawx are still probably not going to win or this is the '86 World Series all over again.

I still think Tampa wins but of course the Red Sox fan wants to imagine a thrilling victory in 7 games....I didn't think about the effect of game 6 in the 1986 series until later ......

Shut it off and went to sleep down 7-0 in the 7th

Woke up at 5:58 A.M. looking to see how bad it ended up.

I'm in Shock. I don't know who feels worse about giving up on them. Me or the several thousand fans who poured out of the place after Papelbon gave up the two run double to Upton. Wow.

LMAO at Coffeecake @ 1:13...

and Sonny "He bet the phuckin horse?? He bet Kryptonite?? Gimme the tickets"

In all seriousness, the Rays deserve to sweat it out now. I now hope there's a game 7 and it goes down to the wire. Any team that pisses a 7-0 lead in the ALCS should be checked for a heartbeat. Bahston is flying high now, and rightfully so. I'm looking forward to game 6 (and 7).

While I really want the Rays to win for my friends Bigs and 31lengths, I REALLY want to see a game 7 now so Rudeboyelvis understands the mighty power of the mush. Last night was just the start. Rays might get moved out of Tampa when this mush is over.

Crown@club 10-17-2008 10:08 AM

You call this the best of the AL? A team blows a 7 run lead with 7 outs to go, and they are supposedly the best of the AL?

It's funny because I read an article in the NY post last week that was trying to say that based on who was left in the postseason that this could have been the Yankees year. It made no sense.

fpsoxfan 10-17-2008 10:22 AM

I think they were kind of basing it on the fact that the Yankees beat up on the Sox and Rays toward the end of the season. The Yankees were basically playing pawtucket when they came to Boston at the end.

Im a yankee fan but i must admit that sometimes the fan base can get pretty ridiculous.

Sox, angels and Rays were the best teams in the AL this year. I think the Rays were the best of those three.

The yankees were beat up all year but either way i dont think they win it. This was a team in transition and i said at midseason on here that making the playoffs would be gravy. I think the Yanks had a great season all things considered and i think Girardi did a nice job.

He sure did. They will be back. They just need to get their pitching back.

The Angels. Better offense, Better Starting Pitching, Better Relief.
But hey how many WS since 1995 have we seen the best team from both leagues facing each other?

They played a total of 51 games against Oakland, Seattle and Texas.
This will result in better offense, better starting pitching, Better Relief.

What Fpsoxfan said. Although, I have to agree the angels have better relievers.

That is a good question about the WS. I have to think about that.

And a better road record also?
Anaheim had 30-16 record against the AL East (8-1 against Boston before the playoffs) TB was 43-29.
