i agree. the race means nothing imo on derby day, altho i continue to like cool coal man, who finished third. but he's one of several imo who have a shot next month.

No conditioning ?? Are you out of your mind ? I got no conditioning yesterday laying on the sofa and watching the races. Regardless of how Pyro ran he still RAN 1 1/8 miles.. That is conditioning.

He could be very dangerous in the Preakness. From his maiden we know he can run on the real dirt.

I think you're completely wrong, but I think Assmussen will have him ready anyways.

If Pyro didn't run hard at all, then you must be saying he didn't handle the track(?) Isn't it better than if he had run hard but came in 10th?

no, ky bear did. i thought he was further back, but then saw that he supposedly finished third, so that's what i put-it being wrong. saw the replay a few mins ago, and realized i had put up something wrong....

Danzig 04-13-2008 05:30 PM

yeah, it's on bloodhorse that ky bear was fourth behind cool coal man, but i think that's backwards.

hockey2315 04-13-2008 06:09 PM

CCM finished one in front of pyro. . . the other zito, stevil, finished fourth. . .

Soxfan,
The rail has been dead at Keenland all week.....your idea makes sense except for the extreme bias. All the jockeys were avoiding the 1-3 paths like the plague.

Agreed. . . Important to note: Pyro and CCM were on the inside. . . And Miner's Claim popped and stopped on the rail.

I thought for a second there he was going to blow by.

King Glorious 04-13-2008 08:29 PM

I must say that I loved the results of the Blue Grass. I would also say that I think it's interesting that someone would use War Pass' rebound performance in the Wood as an example of a horse bouncing back off a poor performance when many people are calling this year's Wood one of the worst grade one's they've seen. He finished second but I don't think it was a good performance.

I hate Pyro and still say that he can't beat War Pass.

Danzig 04-13-2008 09:35 PM

who are some of the 'many people' saying the wood was one of the worst? i believe randy moss said pretty much the exact opposite, that the track was playing very slow, that it was faster than many realize.
i think some are discounting the race since they thought war pass wasn't that good, and since he ran well that day, they have to make out that it was a bad race in order to still be 'right' about the two year old champ.

hockey2315 04-13-2008 09:42 PM

it's probably because they came home like they were running in quicksand
