People say what they will about Yankee fans and I know the rep has been earned for the most part. But can you imagine Yankee fans under ANY circumstances booing jeter? Mo? Posado?

Booing Mo? Come on. Never. He has gotten shelled and they dont boo him.

Posada gets a lifetime pass as well.

If you are a class guy and win titles as a Yankee, they dont boo you.

I actually disagree with you on this one. I hate to defend Sawx fans, but Ortiz has been terrible this postseason and their booing was pretty mild, especially since Youkilis was coming up and it could've mostly just been those annoying "Yook" chants. I also have heard Jeter booed by Yankee fans during extended slumps. It hasn't happened often, but it's happened.

hmmmm. Admittedly i havent watched every game but we are die hards and we have the baseball package. I have never seen it but it doesnt mean its never happened.

Im pretty sure theyve never done it in a playoff game.

Regardless of how poorly papi is hitting, he deserves a lifetime pass for what he has brought to that town.

dalakhani 10-16-2008 09:16 PM

I pulled a search and you guys are right. I stand corrected. Sorry sox fans.

Yankees fans can be just as thankless.

Shameful.

ateamstupid 10-16-2008 09:20 PM

Kazmir is on frickin' fire. Too bad he threw so many pitches early on.

fpsoxfan 10-16-2008 09:30 PM

I can't see booing Big Papi. It's ridiculous. Oh well, it's over. Good Luck Rays. You've earned it.

ateamstupid 10-16-2008 09:44 PM

A thing of beauty to see Papeldouche absorb the final blow. Outstanding.

dalakhani 10-16-2008 10:17 PM

and papi gets the monster clout. Good for him.

Congrats to the Rays and their fans:tro: They deserve it. Clearly the better team of the two this year.

Great to see BJ Upton playing so well. I love rooting for a hometown guy. Hope he is able to bring home a WS ring.:$:

Bigs...I will PM you on our bet.

Okay, one of you has to explain why this guy is still throwing. 2 run home run and a double.

Full count now with the tying run at 2nd.

Regardless of who wins, the manager choked...hard. I dont give a **** what you have in your pen, you are nursing a lead, you get shields up if you have to.

Howell's pretty money too. I would've had him in there, but it's moot now.

Without the double Papeldouche gave up, Sox would be winning now.

That would be an even worse idea than keeping Wheeler in. hell you could blow 2 starters in one game not to mention Shields would need a lot more warmup time than a normal reliever. I wonder why he didnt put Howell in to start the inning since Wheeler is supposedly the closer.

I have to think that the pitchers who threw **** piches choked more than the manager. He can only put them in, it is up to them to get guys out. You cant call time out in baseball. The guys who blew the lead are the same guys who have filled in those roles pretty well this year. Though i would have probably had more faith in Price who is probably the most talented pitcher they have.

Coach Pants 10-16-2008 10:57 PM

I have a feeling this will be the biggest mush thread in the history of internet forums.

I agree. If Boston ends up winning this game it could make a HUGE dent in the Rays psyche for the next two games.

Cannon Shell 10-16-2008 11:02 PM

Chip Carey must get paid by the game because he was putting the announcer mush on th rays that inning. upton is up and he is talking about trying for a triple for th cycle or an inside the park hr. then he says double play like 4 times during Pena's at bat and how few he hit into this year. then gleefully calls "Double play ball!!!!"

It 's like he is suddenly the John Sterling of Boston

I hear you. Again, though, i think a big part of a manager's job is to keep players out of situations where they have a good chance to fail.

Pitcher gives up a two run homer, a hard hit double to mark kotsay. He doesnt have it clearly. Why leave him in? Bring in somebody else to get that last out.

dalakhani 10-16-2008 11:04 PM

papi up.

wouldnt it be fitting?

They didnt have a whole lot of options out there. Just bringing in different guys is hardly a sound strategy. Wheeler pitched Crisp tough. sometimes we fail to give the hitters the credit they deserve.
