of course it does. and i'm talking about white males here. and this is going into uncharted waters for some people

I will say that at my college, Obama is definitely in the lead. My college's demographics are mainly whites with very few minorities. As you all know, the younger generation is more open-minded than older white males throughout this country taken as a whole, not individually. We normally accept differences more readily.

I will be voting for Clinton or Obama if McCain gets the GOP nomination. Drastic times call for drastic measures because I don't like Clinton at all, yet I would take her over McCain at this point. McCain was someone I touted a few years ago. He has completely changed his stances from then.

i could care less who you vote for. your a female i'm talking white males .i believe there are a percentage of middle to older aged men that WILL NOT VOTE FOR THIS REASON FOR NEITHER OFTHEM.

And I was simply agreeing with you when I said that the younger generation tended to be more open-minded about these things. It's not like any on this board would own up to it. I could personally think of one that could possibly be, even though that person would deny it. How much that will change the election, I obviously do not know. I think it will definitely have some effect because there are a lot of them out there. The Rednecks in North Carolina have certainly talked to me about it. One particular individual stated that this country wasn't ready for a female or a black president. Some just said that they wouldn't because they were a woman or of a different race. And I know some from personal experience that wouldn't because they are hard core racists even though they haven't talked to me about the current presidential race.

Perhaps it is because I'm not looking for a reason to bring race into a topic where it shouldn't be.

If we haven't come very far, explain to me how Hillary ran away with the state of Florida? It must be because there is a percentage of middle to older aged men who refused to vote for her. By the way, Obama was second. ;)

I think we have come a long way, but haven't come far enough for me to be happy. I think by the time that we get older, there will be very little discrimination/racists.

I think your opinion on this also depends on who you are socializing with. If you are in college, very liberal towns, or educated areas then you would be hard-pressed to find one. However, if you go to small towns or go out to the country, they are everywhere!

I would say pretty far, honestly. I've got no problem with a black man being in office because I don't pay attention to the color of someone's skin. (Apparently, I'm naive because of this.) If I believe him to be the best man for the job, then guess what... I'll vote for him. I just don't believe him to be the best man for the job.

but you keep saying you . i'm not talking about you. you don't but i hope you don't think other older white men all think like you. and the question is worth bringing up and thinking about because this might be our first black or women pres. which is going to be a historic step in our history

I can take you to a few otb's and racetracks and have you listen to a group of old black men and see if they don't talk about white people.

The whole white apologist act is tired.

i understand that as i said before i know there is reverse discrim. what i'm getting at is weve always had white male presidents. to some they will feel there might be change in this country not to thier likeing.

you have got to be kidding me. what is this based upon?

i find that there are idiots, racists, etc, everywhere. small towns and the countryside don't hold a monopoly on the same.

i did have to set a coworker straight this morning. she was repeating something she got in an email--that obama was a muslim and had taken his oath of office on the koran. i told her that she was incorrect on both counts.

i had to bite my tongue however, when tempted to ask wtf would it matter?! and i got plenty of backup in the discussion that followed, from a fellow small town, countryside liver...of course, he MAY have been educated.

I know here at my college that I haven't really found any, and you see interracial dating all of the time here. No one makes comments or anything. Of course, there could be closet racists. Just because I haven't seen any doesn't mean they aren't here. I was sort of arguing in Cajun's defense. I live in an extremely liberal city. If I wasn't dating someone of a different race then I would tend to not think about discrimination very much at my current location. I feel no pressure when walking around campus with him. However, there are plenty in other places that I have been where racists can be found everywhere, and I do feel the pressure of society bearing down on me. Like I said, if you have been in an area where racists don't exist for an extended period of time, then I guess you could tend to not think about it very much. Cajun just simply stated that she didn't know any, and I was trying to explain how that could be to other board members on her behalf.

true. so many go there with the best of intentions, only to find that the system is corrupt, with far too much back scratching going on. you vote against someone else's pork, good luck getting anything passed that you would want....tis a shame. and our money funding it all.

She's just absolutely insane. To date someone of a different color primarily to try and rebel against racist white men is quite possibly the most retarded thing I have ever read on the internet. I'm sure she'll have lots of stupid kids to further contribute to the escalating crisis of retarded children that can't be left behind.

yes i do believe alot go in wanting to do the best for our country. then see that its not that simple to get what they want done. and fall like all the rest because of the system.
