Dalton and AJ Green aside. Bengals also have quite the D, did they come off the unemployment line? Good ole Chuck being the contrarian for the sake of being the Contrarian. :zz: its been reported that the Bengals didnt move Palmer previously because they didnt recieve the required 2nd round pick they demanded for him. This says something about the Raiders, how do you go into the season with a backup QB that you have such a lack of confidence in?

ask the colts that one!

the raiders tried to get someone who had been available at the right price...plus, they needed a backup for their qb-which is now palmer, this gives them two again til campbell returns.

insanity-doing the same thing expecting a different result.

Yup. I never liked the guy from day one. Makes a few big plays while running for his life (and that was when they had an amazing line and running game) and everyone pegged him as something he wasn't. I want Jimmy Johnson back.

More tongue in cheek than anything else, it seemed like the Raider thing to do.
I like Tebow, if for no other reason you can be pretty sure he isn't raping women in his free time.

Yes the Bengals and Raiders owe thier tremendous success over the last decade to great 1st round choices. Andre Smith, Keith Rivers, Chris Perry, David Pollack, Akali Smith, Peter Warrick are all fairly recent gems for the Bengals who have exactly one 1st rd pick starting for that vaunted defense.

I dont think that doubting a potential poor 1st round selection by the management of the Bengals or Raiders qualifies as a contrarian view. Rather it would seem to be close to expected.

Besides Palmer's declining mobility and arm strength, the Raiders just need someone to manage and not give it away Rex Grossman style.
Wonder if he would have enough zip to get the ball to Ford and Moore.

Now....Now....Al Davis has passed.....I'm sure the Raiders can now draft sensibly. Obviously we won't know until the 2013 draft.

amazing what dying does for a mans reputation. al davis the last few years was a laughingstock...now he's remembered as a football genius and legend.

at any rate, palmer is past his prime, but still better than anything else available for a desperate team.
raiders overpaid, but they have their reasons i guess.

as for rex grossman, he's now on the bench-beck gets the start. will anyone notice? i tried to enjoy the skins while they were doing well, as i figured it wouldn't last. nfc east is up for grabs, who figured that going in?

People think I'm blowing smoke when it comes to Matt Flynn. There was some more proof right there. I'm telling you he would be a better starter than at least 6-10 teams right now .

Calm down LSU boy. I could throw a TD pass against the Vikings this year.

I love seeing Flynn time in the 4th quarter, but don't get too excited over Flynn throwing 2 passes and running for a TD in garbage time against a deflated beat down team.

I believe Flynn will get paid by someone next year and he most likely won't be a packer, but I would not expect him to be the next Rodgers.

I'm accepting any smart comments such as this one from any Packer fans or the like. As I said, I know he is not Rodgers, but he would easily be a starter on about half of the teams in the league.

Flynn had a career day and probably earned himself a nice big fat pay check from someone next year where he will get his shot to be a starting QB. Is Flynn better than the Kyle Orton's, Rex Grossman's, Curtis Painter's of the world? yes. Is he a top 15 QB? That is yet to be seen. Remember how bear fans actually thought Caleb Hanie was good when he played well against the pack in the NFC championship last year? What happened when Hanie got the starting job this year? Flynn has a lot to prove and if he leaves the pack he will get that shot. Starting 16 games in the NFL will be the only way to see if Flynn has what it takes.

I think it's funny that Rex Ryan says his team is going to win the Super Bowl, they don't, and everyone eagerly piles on and laughs in his face. Meanwhile, Hue Jackson calls trading two first-round picks for Carson Palmer the greatest trade in NFL history, Palmer proceeds to throw 16 interceptions in 9 1/2 games, they miss the playoffs, and no one says a thing.

Rex is an attention whore who has gone to the AFC title game the last 2 years, while Oakland/Hue Jackson is still irrelevant at this point in the AFC landscape.

Yeah, that's probably it. Still funny to me.

I ripped the Palmer trade earlier in this thread. Palmer is a mediocrity and i said it would wind up as a horrible trade. Jackson was an idiot then and is asserting himself in the Al Davis void, this won't end well either.

Time will tell, but I have and will step out on a limb here and say he has the tools to be successful.

Pack would have fared better with Flynn today, Rodgers sucked.

Ocala Mike 01-15-2012 07:53 PM

Palmer to Raiders

Pack would have fared better with some stickem on their hands; 8 drops and 3 fumbles. Guess Rodgers was putting KY jelly on the football.

Face it, the TEAM didn't show up.
