I don't understand why people who hate the Yankees always bring up their payroll. Just because the owner is a successful businessman and loves to put that money in the team makes him a bad person? All legal in the eyes of MLB? It's called America, and as long as MLB allows it why bring that up?

I hate them now because they pulled their AAA Team, which had been here for 28 years, out. Not because they have money to buy players. I feel very lucky having been able on a lazy summer afternoon to watch some of the guys out their now playing right here at Cooper Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

Now for the next 2 years we get the players on Washington's farm team.

Gander 10-05-2006 05:26 PM

Touche! Ahh, but I have 7 teams to root for :D

Maybe after the Twins lose to the A's tomorrow, it will be down to 6!

Still cant figure out how you guys cant beat the Tigers in your stadium with Mussina pitching. I would have never guessed a Yankee loss today in a million years.

We can start anyone we want, we won't be 1-1 going to Detroit. The unbeatable Yankees lost to the worst team in the playoffs. Pathetic.

Of course he did. He is the typical frontrunning Yankee fan. Watch Arod hit a homerun to win game 5 and all the loser Yankee fans will tell us how great he is. Yankee fans are phony hypocrits. Always have been.

pgardn 10-05-2006 08:45 PM

Jeez that Detroit reliever strikes out Jeter, Giambi, and A-Rod. This team can hang with that pitching. The timely hitting is the key.

I have not watched the regular season all that closely. That Detroit reliever has a degree of velocity. Only 21 years old... We will see if he gets a chance to choke at home. Yankees might be better off on the road. Away from their loving fans.

That choke artist will be a first ballot HOF winner! So he's not perfect and, for shame, he actually would like to be liked by the fans!! What a concept!

slotdirt 10-06-2006 08:13 AM

Blah blah blah. For all the Jeter talk, who knew that his postseason average is actually lower than his regular season mark? ARod is one of the all-time greats period; Jeter is a pretty good shortstop.

Fans hate him, and the sooner they dump him the better.
True stars step up when the pressure is on at some point and come through in the clutch. Do you really want me to post his post season stats from the last three years? Its so embarassing as to be tragic.
Noone in NY wanted to hate the guy when he came here. ALl yankee fans wanted him to be great and help us win championships.
After the first tragic postseason against Boston, we then lowered our expectations and hopes last year to just hoping he would not cost us games again.
Its at the point now where we get nauseous when he comes to the plate because we know what hes gonna do, which is to do what he did yesterday three times, hes gonna strike out, and he did it again yesterday with the bases loaded.
As far as Slot's Jeter analogy, its only common sense to think that in the playoffs againstthe very best teams, thats its gonna be harder to get a hit against the very best pitchers and fielders. I think a 1st grader could see the logic in that.
hes got 4 rings, and so many big games and key hits that you can't even name them all. ARod has none.

The Jeter post-season hype is all made up by the NY Media and Yankee spin machine. The wanted a face to the Yankees and they made it him. His post-season stats are nothing special. The fact is that the teams that won all their championships won it with pitching. Whenever they say it is the intangibles that make him great, they are saying "we know we made up this hero, and his stats are pretty good, but everyone knows he is hype by the media"

Take Jeter off the team and they would have still won all those championships. Take Rivera off the team and they might have 1 if they are lucky.

Guys like Bernie Williams, and all the role players have done much more for the Yankees than Jeter.

Since I'm on Cali, I don't get the latest from NY locker rooms. Please let me know how you guys arrived at the conclusion that his team-mates don't like him?

He is well liked in the locker room. The idiot Yankee fans and the tabloids like the NY Post make up garbage. Jeter isn't his best friend, but Arod is seen out on the town with numerous guys on the team. His wife is also good friends with a bunch of players wives.

Top 3 in the game? What world do you live in? He will get MVP as a lifetime achievement award, but he might not be top 3 on his own team. The guy has ZERO power. ZERO.

Gander 10-06-2006 06:32 PM

Pujols is the best.
