well,
without question,
if Discreet Cat runs next year,
nobody is going to beat him. its just plain stupid how fast he is. I watch him, and I think Ghostzapper.

but if we are talking about a non obvious horse, I really like Vacare.
Im partial to turf racing so I thats my "star of 2007".

I dont see any holes in her game.
as for others:
I like
Latent Heat
Circular Quay
DMoon
OOnagh Maccool
Melhor Ainda
Point Ashley(love the name)
Songster
Bright One
and plenty more

GPK 09-19-2006 07:34 AM

I would like to add Dreaming Of Anna to my list with Point Ashley.

Hwjb 09-19-2006 07:38 AM

They seem to be playing the long game with Discreet Cat, and I imagine next year he will be better still. If kept in training his stablemate, Iffraaj may well prove nigh on unbeatable over 7f, and top class at 6f & 1m (I fancy he will be better than Librettist over the latter trip).

Sander Camillo, visually, was about as impressive as a juvenile can be at Newmarket last time, and whilst the time figure was poor I back her to be a pretty special 3yo.

But (for jumping fans only) THE star of 2007 will be Taranis, Paul Nicholls' up and coming ex-French chaser. Have also backed Wellbeing for the Champion Hurdle at a price.

Cajungator26 09-19-2006 09:08 AM

I'll take Bright One. I really like this colt.

my miss storm cat 09-19-2006 10:38 AM

Thanks for the heads up, Gallant.....

Nice win by Miss Beatrix.

i took a
look at the
replay and that
is the first time
i ever had
a winner in
such a large
field.

:)

Gander 09-19-2006 04:57 PM

Bobby Flay's charge Unbridled Express. He will win at least one leg of the Triple Crown.

MLC 09-19-2006 05:39 PM

I will second the Lawyer Ron vote and also cast one for Circular Quay.

I'd be a little cautious with Songster. Did not like his last one at all.

Melhor may be finished along with BOS.

Don't worry we'll make plenty of dough as long as you have PATIENCE.

;)

yeah,
his last one sucked.
so did the previous one for that matter.

Im hoping he is just a horse that is not all that good at Saratoga.
b/c his wins in MD and the one at Belmont were awesome(imo).

sucks about Melhor Ainda. thought she was as good as Heat Haze and most of the other really good Frankel turf runners over the past few years.

Discreet Cat

Buffymommy 10-19-2006 08:45 AM

Going to go out on a limb here and say:

Uganik Bay! :D :D :D

my miss storm cat 10-26-2006 10:44 AM

Adding two for next year.....

Army of Angels and Sunday Symphony.

brianwspencer 10-26-2006 12:15 PM

for as much as a female turfer can be a "star" -- it's going to be Vacare. I just don't see very many horses being able to run with her, especially with the added maturity to next year.

going along with that -- I think that Mauralakana will be heard from in big ways next year as well.

kentuckyrosesinmay 10-26-2006 01:29 PM

I would like to add Zada Belle to my list, and I'll stick with my picks of Bernardini, Discreet Cat, and Nobiz Like Shobiz, and all the others. So far, my horses are doing well.

It doesn't appear that Bernie will be running next year. It sucks... I would have liked to have seen him.

kentuckyrosesinmay 10-26-2006 01:38 PM

Finally a fan Cajun?

Never disliked him, Jessica... I'm just not willing to call him "great" yet. Like I've said before, he shows up in the BCC, and he's got my attention. I'd still like to see him up close, though.

kentuckyrosesinmay 10-26-2006 01:42 PM

I don't think that it is definite that he will retire after the Classic. I am very skeptical of the reports, but I won't get my hopes up. I would think that they would want to run the horse in Dubai.

Oh yeah, and just for the record, Nobiz Like Shobiz is still my Derby horse:D

hoovesupsideyourhead 10-26-2006 02:07 PM

that 2 year old that ran for patrick b is gonna be a star...she is i should say..she was the number 5..belgravia...wow,,,

randallscott35 10-26-2006 02:26 PM

Repent, Melhor Aienda has been retired.

kgar311 10-26-2006 02:33 PM

Discreet cat will be the biggest star and will go down as one of the best of all time. Undefeated. Avg. victory margin over 10 lengths

my miss storm cat 12-31-2006 09:42 AM

My original pick was retired, so I'll go with Dynamic Saint.

If you've never heard of him, just wait till World Cup Day.....:)

smartyalex 12-31-2006 10:56 PM

I think the star of 2007 would have to be any Assistant Trainer in the US.......there's a good chance you will be in the drivers seat with all the recent trainer suspensions!

intense 01-01-2007 01:33 PM

Vacare & Premium Tap

Anyone else keeping track of their pick here?

DS won easily at Nad Al Sheba today..... 2nd start, 2nd win this season. :)

declansharbor 01-11-2007 05:58 PM

I personally am looking forward to seeing Showing Up run..I think he only gets better as he matures and will be a horse to be reckoned with during his 4 yr old campaign..

SteelKrtan 01-11-2007 06:07 PM

Maybe better : 3rd in the melbourne cup as a 3yr old will only get better :D

will el segundo, miss finland and that half bro to Elvis be around next year??

SteelKrtan 01-11-2007 06:47 PM

The Gauch got the sack on el seg.Damien Oliver is expec to be the next jock
Has a ton of pace no doubt but looks like does best fresh up so maybe quite a good choice for the dubai cup.

Miss Finland well could not have been more murdered than the melbourne cup race definately not out of it.

Was actually at swan hill to watch elvises brothers 1st race still has alot to do to be up there as there are some great horses around at mo

Easy way just pick anything from "david hayes" the man has all the top horses!!!!

Close the till (alot of injurys) but if it makes the track again watch out!!

Won today in Dubai like a good boy!

MaTH716 02-22-2007 11:30 AM

What about Invasor again? Looked good in the Donn. Not one mention of him on this thread. Has something happened to him, or is he still training up to Dubai to go against DC? But he is my pick.

I am sorry to go with an obvious choice, but I saw a few Discreet Cat references . So scratch the first choice and I will go with Circular Quay. I know that he has had trouble going two turns, but after all the trouble he had in the Risen Star and to still finish fifth I think he is a special horse.
