She's set to be sold after the BC, which kind of makes me nervous. It just sounds so unsettled...........

The only other 2-yo filly I've seen this year that I might pick to beat her is Mani Bhavan. I see she's not scheduled to run at Belmont this weekend.
Anyone know is she's going in the Spinster at Keenland, or training up to the BC? |

weak division and her being a monster, makes her most likely winner of the entire breeders cup weekend....
i would love to try to beat her, but with who ? ? ? |

I can think of a couple recent fillies that went from the BC Juv Fillies right to the sales ring |

And didn't Point Ashley go from the DelMar Debutante to that same sale a couple of years ago? or was she sold privately and then a phantom injury ended her illustrious career? |

I believe Point Ashley was the origin of the <insert horse here> "has done enough" phrase.

You realize that she would retire at the end of her 3 year old year with about 90% of the connections out there right because of her value as a broodmare, which is somewhat questionable given her breeding. |

She is coming home to the farm," Whitney told the Albany Times Union. "I am not in this game to try and milk every penny out of these horses while they're running. She has done so much for us and I just love her so much." I guess RACING a RACE horse for longer than a year is considered "milking". |

Personally, I thought the early retirement of Birdstone was even worse. The excuse being he wouldn't be able to make the Donn Handicap or something after ankle surgery. |

I think you and I know the most disgraceful 3YO filly retirement of all time....and the moron that did it. |

Look no further than last year. Before they even ran the Classic we knew that Hard Spun, Street Sense, and most likely Any Given Saturday wouldn't return at 4. Actually, the 3yos that run in the Classic are often a good source of such horses. Coronado's Quest, his sire Forty Niner, FuPeg, Giant's Causeway, Hold That Tiger, Birdstone, Black Minnaloushe, Came Home, War Emblem, Bernardini, etc. |
I don't remember the place I saw the interview but I distinctively remember Whitney saying she doesn't like to race her fillies past three.
|
Honestly? I still haven't forgiven the Sheikh for retiring Bernardini. I know a lot of people thought he was overrated, but he was a very good horse and he could have been a wonderful older horse.
