"Despite the solid play and the large payday, Sullivan said that his performance does not make him want to return to the Tour, where he last played in 1997 and made 11 cuts in 27 events."

"Roy Biancalana, a PGA Teaching Professional at St. Andrews Golf and Country Club in West Chicago, Ill., on the other hand, is turning his winnings into a down payment on his 12th attempt to qualify for the PGA Tour."

To me, Sullivan is a Tour player who just didn't want to play the tour. If you make 11 cuts on the best golf tour in the world, then you're a tour player. Biancalana could probably of been on one of the 3 best tours in the world(Nationwide,Euro PGA, U.S. PGA, ) and maybe he did make it on one. I guess what I consider a club pro is someone who is a club pro by necessity(not because they find being on the tour too much work or family strain.) I would consider a true club pro to be someone who plays golf well, but has yet to come very close to making it as a tour player(talent-wise.)

A big weakness for this Holmes guy is lag putting. He isn't a horrible putter, but he gives himself par putts that shouldn't be as long as they are.

Holmes, Curtis, Romero, or Harrington...One of them should get it. Most of the others are chokes.

Im thinking he shoots a few over par on the front, take himself out of the hunt and then make a few late birdies when it don't count to make his finish appear better than it was.

Or vice versa.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-10-2008 12:01 PM

HIGH AUSSIE gets to eat sausage n' beer with JEMMA DEAN.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-10-2008 12:38 PM

That's why ELK is trying so hard this week. He is from Houston, and wants to finish high Aussie. So, he can eat with JEMMA DEAN.

GPK 08-10-2008 12:49 PM

I'll set the over/under on Philly Mick today at 72.5....and take the over

My UE player fell a little on our former home golf course, but he's tied for the lead with University of Southern Indiana player, and a 9-time champ. Should run out there to watch the final 9, but I'll just go work on my game.

Nice day no heat, so no problem - LOL!!!

LOL...Thanks to the boring nature of this tournament, I have created a new genre called Aussie Rap:

...Jenro Jemma Dean say "Fid-dean...six-dean...sevad-dean...eigh-dean"

I know the creativity is astonishing. This is what happens when you have compounding trauma of Broxton getting 1 out(outta 5 batters,) and seeing a Tiger-less major. Anybody see Broxton's throw to Martin on the play at the plate? It's a beauty. Once he starts to choke, then there's no coming back. He does the "the fatboy choke" as if he's gettin' paid to do comedy. The best part was when he hit a guy with an inside pitch, and Martin made a gesture with his glove that can only be described as the "wtf ya doin' " gesture.

He is playing the best. If he doesn't win it, then it will be a choke for sure.

Ben Curtis is still playing fairly solid. Seems like it's gonna come down to them 2.

He and Tiger are the best clutch putters I have ever seen. PADDY MUST BE YOUR NATIONAL HERO. What a clutch individual he has become.

He is.. the place is probably going crazy now.. It'll certainly make up for our lack of Olympic glory., a great player and a good guy..

That tourney was a blast to watch for a variety of reasons for me, the obvious being Ben. Very unfortunate ending for him but his bank account is quite larger then it was.

Not too mention he is now a proud member of the Ryder Cup team. :D Real cool to see him make that. He is one of the most level headed golfers you will find in good times and bad.

Big props to Harrington. Gamer to the end.

timmgirvan 08-11-2008 03:50 PM

Glad to see Ben doing well and hope he continues to "up his game"! Happy for Paddy, too. Read somewhere that the pro's have to watch out for Paddy the same way they do when El Tigre is in the line-up! That's foolishness ,of course...but it's good to see a quiet guy who plays hard and gives it his best shot everytime win it....same for Ben too

Amazing the transformation he has undergone through the years. He is absolute money in the clutch. 66-66 on the weekend of a major is strong as train smoke.

Coach Pants 08-11-2008 04:16 PM

I'd like to see him paired with Tiger on Sunday in a major before I start sucking his potato nuts like you guys.

No doubt....that will be when is real test comes. Is he on Tiger's level?? Hell no. He needs another 11 majors....but right now, he is the 2nd best in the world. Just impressive to me how he has transformed his game through the years.

No offense since you're a golfer but the majority of players on the PGA Tour are chokers.

They're still looking for J.B. Holmes. He's been missing since Sunday morning. ;)

Coach, for the most part, I can't disagree with you there. It's way too easy to make a very nice living out there finishing top 15-20 every few weeks, maybe throw in a top 5 once or twice a year. Add it up at the end of the year and you have a 1.5 million. The hunger to win isn't a common trait out there.

I didn't know Holmes was a choke, but that was pure choke. As far as the majority being chokers, I think it is a combination of not having the talent mixed in with some choke. Now, if you take this Rose guy, that guy is 100% choke. He wasn't that way on the Euro tour about 5-6 years ago. He would line up against Poulter, and simply make the putts to beat him. Rose has the talent to be doing what Tiger and Paddy are doing. He is weak. This guy Curtis isn't a choke. He had a bad break on a putt hit'n something, and changing direction. Also, he is simply not as good a putter as PADDY,TIGER, and ROSE are. He is getting a lot out of what he has. Garcia is 75% choke, and 25% of his problems are because he really isn't a very good natural putter. He is improving on it, but that putt on 17 says it all. Villegas is a choke. A very big choka(dat choka be cubed.)
