Well let's put it this way.......someone is using her name when she types.." I vaporized it because the thread was useless.".......or similar words.

Yes it does....but now that I think of it what makes it more out there is Armstrong ducking him. He only accomplished what I think is the greatest feat of all time ...at least in boxing. I think maybe his friends are trying to twist other situations into "ducking".

Mortimer 03-31-2008 07:00 PM

Uh.....read Mortimer is useless.

Mortimer 03-31-2008 07:02 PM

YES.

It is so.

Oh, you know Armstrong, LaMotta and Robinson were all big sissies.

;)

Mortimer 03-31-2008 07:08 PM

Harry Wills was ducked as was Sam Langford, but those were in the 20's or so and it is too bad so many fine Black athletes paved the way for others to get there when they could not.

Ever see the old fight films digitally enhanced?

Those are like SSSSO awesome.

Eaux, I have seen some!

I heard there is a video in which Tyson comments on old fights from Sandler, Dempsey, Louis, etc. I have always wanted to see that but haven't found it.

I didn't know that ,but it sounds great. He was a big fan of the old time guys which is why he had his hair cut the way he did and wore no socks.

"I was gonna rip his heart out. I'm the best ever. I'm the most brutal and vicious, the most ruthless champion there has ever been. No one can stop me. Lennox is a conqueror? No! He's no Alexander! I'm Alexander! I'm the best ever. I'm Sonny Liston. I'm Jack Dempsey. There's never been anyone like me. I'm from their cloth. There is no one who can match me. My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious. I want his heart! I want to eat his children! Praise be to Allah."

GPK 03-31-2008 07:20 PM

But he did go over the top a bit on occasion.

Or did Thebby speak that quote?

:)

To be fair..when he let King get a hold of him.....he fell fast and hard.

ror!

Indeed he did. But I think he did a better job of remembering those who came before him than most.

A very salient and most excellent point.

Yes. It would have been something to see what he would have done if he stayed with Rooney and away from King.

Really was too bad,but that's the way she goes.

I buzzed by his house a few times when he lived out here. It was really strange to see his name on the iron gates.......to know the baddest man in the world lived right there in the middle of farm country.

rumor has it...

you were his sparring partner

Mortimer 03-31-2008 07:32 PM

Uh KGB......rumor has it wrong.

I'm still alive...right?

By the way....the locals had nothing but good things to say about him. He was about a mile and a half from a teeny town called Southfield and the store owner there really went on about how nice he was.
