By recruits, and by the NFL. You dont go to a school like The Ohio State University and worry about making it at the next level, its a factory for great players.

King yes Ive heard of USC and hope you enjoyed the run while PC was coach. If/when he leaves for the NFL USC is back to mediocrity. Ohio States program will never be mediocre its not driven by the coaches its driven by a dynamic alumni. Ohio consistantly produces the best highschool football in the country which feed The Ohio State University.

Are you high right now?

horseofcourse 01-10-2008 03:33 PM

although I am an Ohio native, I would have to say Ohio high school players rate below California, Texas, and Florida overall. I would certainly say top 5 however.

YOU MUST be smoking dope!!! ohio football is NO better than pennsylvania and mississippi. NOT as good as florida, california, texas, alabama, louisiana.

i just read through the osu roster. about 33 of the 100 man is from OUT of state. at a quick glance that i could pick out about HALF of the starting defense is from out of state. even the starting rb is NOT home grown.

The Bid 01-10-2008 05:31 PM

The only state that could possibly compete with Ohio would be Texas for sending out top college players. I cannot help that The Ohio State University is a top program fueled by top highschool programs. Thats just how it is folks.

Coach Pants 01-10-2008 05:37 PM

Northern lights?

The Bid 01-10-2008 05:42 PM

Its hard to disagree that The Ohio State University is the preeminent football school in the country.

Preeminent SEC'S Lapdog School.

Danzig 01-10-2008 05:49 PM

i don't find it hard to disagree at all.

because bid says so doesn't mean much. i'm a fan of lsu, you don't see me on here trying to say it's THE preeminent school. being a fan doesn't automatically mean you become blind to reality. well, for most people at least.

The Bid 01-10-2008 05:51 PM

What they do on a regular basis is win, win and show up to all the big dances. Nobody in college football is more consistant at winning than The Ohio State University. This was a rebuilding year and by accident they end up in the National Championship. They dont rebuild, they reload, and like it or not they are the absolute nuts in college football. Theyll be back again next year, and with any kind of officiating they will win like they should have this year. When you outplay someone and lose by 14 its boarderline criminal.

Contrary to what you believe Danzig, what Bid says is pretty much the way it is.

Coach Pants 01-10-2008 05:55 PM

Pfft. Couldn't beat a team coached by a SEC reject.

The Bid 01-10-2008 05:59 PM

Nothing you can do when you play in someones backyard and get a bad big 12 crew. Those guys were brutal. Some of the Personal fouls wouldnt have been called in a 12 year old game. The late hit out of bounds, the lack of a call when Boeckman gave himself up on the slide and got hit anyway. The questionable personals killed Ohio State, they outplayed LSU

Danzig 01-10-2008 06:03 PM

bad refereeing is the #1 excuse by a poor loser. can't blame your team, can't give props to the other--so blame the officiating.

thing is, bid, you're the ONLY person i've seen complain about the crew. no one on tv, on the radio, in the paper, online, nowhere else have i seen anything except that lsu outplayed your team.

hell, just be happy osu got to the title game, and had a better season than most expected. no shame in finishing top five.

Coach Pants 01-10-2008 06:06 PM

Yeah they were cheated out of a win. Only losing by 14 had nothing to do with the fact that LSU went ultra-conservative on offense and defense because they had a 21 point lead.

They could play the game 10 times and LSU would win all 10. The Big Ten is an overrated conference and you guys had a cupcake schedule. That resulted in another ass whooping at the hands of a much better team from the south.

If you want to compete with the big boys, and no that doesn't include Miami, you need to schedule your non-conference games accordingly. No more Kent State.

The Bid 01-10-2008 06:10 PM

The Ohio State University will be back in the same game next year. Hopefully not played in someones backyard, and hopefully not with a big 12 crew.

They were cheated out of a legitiment chance to win by poor officiating

they cut the lead from 21 because i really think lsu D wanted off the field to start celebrating.
they had the game well in hand, and knew it. no doubt in my mind lsu could have scored more than they did.

Hopefully they'll play it at the horseshoe with big 10 refs so you'll be forced to stfu when they lose.

would have no bearing. osu would still 'be the best'. or is it The Best?

The Bid 01-10-2008 06:17 PM

Do you think LSU would have beaten Ohio State in the Shoe with a different crew?

Actually Morty is a fan but not totally blinded.

Really anyone who thinks LSU was not the better
team on that night... Those will be the ones who
always have an excuse. Illinois exposed Ohio State,
LSU made it clear.

SoCal, Georgia, or LSU pickem for #1 imo.

This is as ridiculous as the Bid. Football is very big in Ohio...huge. To call Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama high school football as good as ohio it is you who is smoking dope. It is size of the state. Ohio is not as good as TExas, Cal and florida...that is it. Pennsylvania can complete but isn't as good. Every school get players from out out of state...it isn't rare. It is not a big deal they have starters from other states...all the schools do it. Ohio produces football players...period.

IrishofNDMan 01-11-2008 10:19 AM

only reason for better high school football in the south is the warmth.

There are more reasons than that.

Year in and year out Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi produce as many, if not more, top prep players than Ohio. Look it up.

STOP! Mississippi, I can barely take it

Speaking as a black man from the South, before you all think he was being racially insensitive or worse, stupid, realize that he's actually right. Sort of. For any number of reasons that can be debated and dissected all night long, the fact of the matter is that high majority of skill position players (except quarterbacks) are black. The same goes for basketball. I don't think he's wrong in saying that. I also agree that football is more of a year round game in the South because of the weather factor. I wouldn't agree that there are more black people in the South to get athletes from though. I would say that it's just more likely that you would find Southern athletes that play football than you will in the North.

Pretty sure that Irish is black too. :D

skippy3481 01-11-2008 10:09 PM

King, what do you attribute that "typically" the skill position players are black?
