And as we have seen.....the junk is legion.

Their fans mix truths with lies.

I think they deserve their number 5 ranking no matter how good I think they are. A road win at Auburn whom Florida couldn't beat at home and a win over WV speak for themselves. They are where they deserve to be.

Having been at the USF - WV game, White still looked confused. Not to mention that their back up is the one who put up the TD. DDTide hit it right on the head in another post. USF hit em in the mouth and they couldnt handle it. Actually....they played THROUGH each whistle in that game (or that's how it seemed to me). Some penalties for late hits coulda been called but were not. USF hit them hard every chance they got.

Yeah...USF prob couldnt beat UF at this time. Rutgers will be an even bigger test than WV was for us. Its a short week on the road and they want revenge.

Ohio State deserves to be #1. Of course, they'll be #2 after the bowl game.

Reminding me alot more of 2002. Started out middle-of-the-pack, worked their way up on solid defense, and finished up big over a FLA team.

That year ended up well, and this one could too. The offense is decent, but the defense is great. I am just as doubtful of the #1 ranking as any anyone else, but if they can run the table over 5 teams with winning records, then the Buckeyes deserve a chance in the title game, and if they don't, then they didn't deserve it.

But, I would rather not go than lose 41-14 again...

USF has shut down the vaunted WVU offense two years in a row. It is not luck, coincidence or injuries....it's called speed.

USF may not be the second best team in the country, there is a long way to go in the season, but they have taken care of business and deserve to be ranked where they are right now.

You must be referring to OSU's schedule....

Danzig 10-15-2007 05:25 PM

south florida, all of 11 years of football. amazing to see them where they are! shame tho that osu got ahead of them in the polls. out of the top three, they would be my vote for #1. then bc, then osu.

but no one asked me.

The Bid 10-16-2007 09:39 AM

Cajun, the only differenc between this year and last year is the Bucks will play the last game of the season. They were out partying with strippers all night before they played Florida. Although I can relate, I do not expect the same thing to happen this year

That is like SOOOOOO surprising.

ddthetide 10-16-2007 05:38 PM

i still think lsu is #1. oklahoma might be #2 and usf #3. i don't think usf can beat the first 2 BUT i do think usf can beat osu. usc is beaten up pretty bad and thier second and third teamers are make to many mistakes. the rest of the pac 10 just doesn't play enough defense.

SweaterVEst Man would never let his players do something like that.

You have proof of that? By the way, I would hope that the Bucks learned their lesson and actually decided to play in the national championship game this year (that is if they actually make it.)

No.

ARyan 10-16-2007 08:52 PM

BC shoud be #2, easily.

ddthetide 10-16-2007 09:20 PM

bc would get crushed by lsu, okla., usc and usf could handle them too.

USF has some great athletes, especially on defense. I dont know anything about their depth though. I think the starting unit can play with any team in the country. I dont think the same of BC.

I would give you LSU, probably Oklahoma. The rest, no way.

Sorry, but I think the Big East is a joke.

The SEC is the best college football conference by far, and any of the upper tier teams would beat the best from the Big East on almost any occasion.

When they play a real top 10 team, we will see.

Untill then, all I can believe is they don't belong anywhere near the top 10. I would give them 11 in a heartbeat.

In all fairness, USF beat West Virginia (they were ranked 5th at the time of their defeat) and not to mention, Auburn (an SEC team, but I'm sure you knew that.)

Hey, I am a huge ACC fan, but the truth is, the SEC is hands down the best...

However those Chickens will be plucked come Thanksgiving weekend...

You think so, eh? I don't see it happening this season for you guys. Spurrier is on a roll and they'll be tough.

West Virginia got shown to be not the team everyone thought they were. I am glad USF beat them...( and I love RR)

Auburn got beat by not taking a good team seriously, and Auburn is hit or miss..they play a great game or a bad game.

I just don't buy USF and Rutgers as the college football powerhouses this year people are making them out to be. Time will tell...but I don't buy it.
Beating the likes of UCF doesn't make you a contender.

We will turn it around...Bowden will make it happen, his head is one big loss from being chopped...

Tell that to Ohio State.

With that said, if USF isn't that great, how did Auburn get beat by 'not taking a good team seriously?' There's not a doubt in my mind that USF is a good team this season... do I think they'll win out their season? Nope, but they deserve to be at the top right now since they've done nothing wrong yet.

Who was talking about Ohio St? ;)

The thing I actually like is the parity in college football...any good team can beat another on any weekend. It makes it more interesting, and discussions like this go on forever...

Morton is probably too young to remember this, but Clemson has a big reason to despise Ohio ST... One of the classic moments in Ohio State football:

Woodrow Hayes comes on the field and hits a Clemson linebacker that has just intercepted a pass and beat the Buckwheats. I will never forget coke-bottle glasses Hayes wandering around looking for someone to hit. Big ole grumpy fatman run amok.

And then the announcers just dismissing it. Until the replays were shown over and over the next day. Great comedy. Down goes Woodrow, down goes Woodrow.

Good ole' Charlie Bauman...

That clip doesn't get shown nearly enough.

But I have seen this thing.

I gave Hayes the round...10-9.
