Hey Chuck

Is Sumwon going to work Wednesday am (can be there) or Thursday am (can't be there until after 9:30a) or you playing it by ear?

I'd expect much longer than that, given Byenne is 15-1 in there and has looked pretty darn good at basically the same current class that Sumwon is at right now. A filly she beat came back to run a pretty bang-up race at AP on Sunday, losing to a nice winner and a horse who had won two in a row at the same level (for a tag the second time). Unless bettors were unequivocally convinced that Sumwon was going to take a big step forward, I'd be thinking at least 15-1 in there, probably closer to 20-1.

It's irrelevant anyway, and what the heck do I know, but wanted to throw my two cents in.

That's a pretty tough field for a Prairie Meadows race like that, probably better that she doesn't go there.

I'm not sure how well Mother Goose will get around carrying 120 pounds.

NoCarolinaTony 06-26-2007 03:36 PM

Good to hear she is doing better

If your thinking lucky it's the perfect day (if your a craps player).

Anyway it's Unfortunate but the date of the next race possibility is 7/11, As hopefully I will have landed in Taiwan by then. Would have loved to go to Chicago to see her run. it's been years since I've been to Arlington. If not I will follow via the internet.

Keep us posted as plans develop. You guys have done a great job of that.

Word on the backstretch is that she can flat out fly.

All I want to say is don't get Douglas to ride, he doesn't fit her one bit. If you can get Sterling Jr, Campbell, or Graham, it will be picture time.

I doubt you could get Emigh, he has all connected with big outfits. Perez, I don't know. You either get the most unbelievable ride of all time or you get shafted.

I am not even going to mention Ferrer, who I have supported here because he is on my **** list right now for the ride he gave on a horse on Friday at like 12/1. I had 200WP/$25 DD/ $20 Exas going with that fool and he tries to shoot the friggin rail with this tiring 40/1 horse that was bore'ing in. It was very Laviolette-ish....

In all honesty, if they were looking to take a risk, I would give Diego Sanchez a try, the kid rides his friggin ass off and he aint scared of nothing, would fit Sum to a T IMO

onebadbeast 06-26-2007 11:15 PM

forget graham that guy rode her before and he sucks.

Because of his ride on her at Keeneland or because you think he sucks in general?

I think Chuck and Steve have already indicated that she was probably in over her head (at that point in her training) and a little short for the race. So I don't think James Graham is the one to blame for that race.

If you have other reasons to think JG sucks then that is fine and your opinion.

I completely disagree with you.
J. Graham does not suck. He is a very good jock for the most part, and typically he is especially dangerous on the turf.
She didn't lose that turf race because of the ride she received, and if he was available for the race, I think he would be a good fit.

The Bid 06-27-2007 08:35 AM

Graham can get into trouble spots many people couldnt find if they tried.

I've cashed with Lantz but he seems to come from out of it
Sumwon doesn't

eh, I think Chuck already has a relationship with Jimmy Graham
but what do I know

dellinger63 06-27-2007 07:45 PM

There’s nothing wrong with Jimmy Graham unlike some of those mentioned. My guess is that's are guy....

Sightseek 06-28-2007 12:26 PM

OK....debating on whether or not to book the flight yet.

Does this sort of race have a hard time filling? Can we wrap her in bubblewrap until the day so we know nothing goes wrong with her? LOL Flights are going for around $300 and you never know where they will be next week...

we're in the same boat! worst yet, we can fly from our local airport (10 min. drive) instead of the 90 min. drive to bwi, plus parking.

brianwspencer 06-28-2007 04:17 PM

Cecilio Penalba!!!!!!!!!

3kings 06-28-2007 05:09 PM

I took the leap of faith and booked my trip after hearing everything went well with the workout. If something comes up thats horse racing. Havn't seen are girl run yet, but its much easier and cheaper to get to Chicago than Louisville and Lexington and for that matter Saratoga. Hope to meet a bunch of DT'ers for the first time. Will still try to go to 'toga if she runs there.

That why I'm waiting for her debut at the Spa..."the stars are getting in aligned for this one" :)

I spent a couple of days with Wayne Catalano and we carefully looked at Mr. Graham, and it was pretty clear from his comments, that MR. Graham left a lot to be desired...I'd choose anyone else.

I don't know...Catalano and Calabrese go through jockeys like underwear. I mean, Douglas wins the BC on DOA and now ET Baird has all their mounts? And you know that won't last long...He'll be gone by Aug. We're going to run at AP the day after SumWon and if Chuck asks my opinion, Jimmy Graham is absolutely on my short list. But then again, Chuck doesn't need my opinion:)

brianwspencer 06-29-2007 02:11 PM

It's official, I've got the day off!!

Sightseek 06-29-2007 02:14 PM

If she wins it's going to be like when Cesario won the American Oaks :D

Good deal - after the big move to the Chicago area, if it turned out you had to miss Sumwon at AP in your back yard ... ! :)

SniperSB23 06-29-2007 05:39 PM

Does the purse increase at Saratoga have any impact on the Arilington race or are we definitely going to AP to try and get a win?

As of today, he has ridden 23 winners thus far thru the AP meet. That's about 5th in jock standings

We are pointing for AP unless Saratoga doubles the purses in which case all bets are off.

Sightseek 06-29-2007 09:38 PM

For those not watching the night program at Prairie Meadows (I have no life :D ) La Chateau and Humble Janet were part of the super, the later getting up for a well paying and fast closing second.
