Ironically enough the Zenyatta tattoo is what made me realize what a douche he was

Ya I think he should be banned from NHC tourney though.

2 year ban from nhc

jms62 02-10-2022 06:37 AM

Think a mere DQ and not a ban should be the punishment here. Not like he gained any strategic advantage. **** I've seen a very well known players wife sitting at a table reading a book during the heat of a tournament with no computer, forms and she had an entry. Also saw same guy always accompanying her to the machines and would be leaning over watching every move.

This year also noticed a well know player who always has a 'secretary' with him and she was in front of me at the machines. Didn't see him place a bet the entire weekend.

NTRA proudly announced how this was first DQ in tournament history as if it were a badge of honor. I see it as an indictment on how pitiful they are in policing their tournament. They do a great job leading up to and the logistics of the tournament but once the gates spring it is a different story.

Also allowing runners and deferment's due to COVID is understandable even if I think there should be none. HOWEVER not notifying ALL MEMBERS that this was an option is complete and utter BULLSHIT and reeks of favoritism to all that weren't informed.

He had the advantage of looking at the horses in the paddock and on the track. But more importantly, he had access to trainer and jockeys who are friends of his.

"Hey Chad, how is your horse in the 6th race doing?"

"Jose, what are your tactics with all the speed in the race?"

You are right but that same access is used by players in room via phone.

This argument is absurd. Criticize him for breaking the rules but to suggest this is ridiculous. Give me a break.

Something like this might actually be a disadvantage ;)

To me…his blatant disregard for the rules is bad and deserving of some kind of punishment. His behavior afterwards made it seem like he thinks he’s above it all. I find that way worse than what he actually did. Without the NHC he has no job on TV, so he kind if bit the hand that fed him.

We’re all flawed and hopefully he learned something from this but again, his attitude after he was caught makes it seem like he didn’t.

Either way, hopefully it’s over and we can stop focusing on this attention hound and congratulate the actual person that won.

Let those of us who haven't popped off online after having a couple Pops cast the first stone ;)

I know most of you guys play in tournaments but I do find it amusing to see how much conversation this has generated when it is a complete nonstory for anyone who doesn’t play in tournaments.

blackthroatedwind 02-10-2022 10:19 AM

Can't we all just please thank Vic for offering his "support" to this place?

However, it's impossible for me to contribute over there. No matter if I choose the highest of roads there's one guy that is just truly brutally hateful and that wears me and I expect many others down.

I don't for the life of me understand why Steve allows it.

His forum could be so much more and isn't because one bully is allowed to run roughshod.

Like PA correctly said I like to be in the middle of things and mix it up. I'm willing to do that there too. But it's totally impossible.

So I just stay away.

Too bad.

Quite a bit to unpack.

1. You have people on Twitter that always dislike Jonathan due to Race
2. You have people on Twitter that always bash public handicappers as if doing so puts them on his level (which is a joke).
3. You have people that are simply jealous of his success and how he has parlayed that
4. You have people that aren't in any of the above camps that are mad of the violation and they think he thought he was above them.

Get em all together and you have quite a bit of chatter.

I wonder who he’s talking about

Even if you're not a tournament player. Shouldn't you care about the integrity of racing overall?

Not knocking.

Just don't quite understand.

JOMHO

When Vic starts talking about integrity you know the entire discussion has jumped the shark

I think this sums it up well.

Having a Zenyatta tattoo should be enough for a 2 year ban by itself.

From what I’ve seen, this pretty much nails it.

Of course I care about the integrity of racing overall. But speaking of the integrity of racing, haven’t you been a pretty big Baffert apologist recently? That situation seems like a bigger issue for racing than Jonathan Kinchen breaking the rules in a tournament that lots of people have never heard of.

I do handicap his horses but that's the extent of it.

Maybe I’m mistaken then.

But I do note you chimed in on my comment about Kinchen so if you’ve never said anything about Baffert then…I don’t know. Seems odd to lecture me on integrity if you’ve never said anything about Baffert, pro or con.

Dahoss 02-10-2022 02:22 PM

Vic has no business lecturing anyone on integrity. He has none.

This is the guy that had a trainer make a formal complaint about him because the trainer felt a rider Vic was representing stiffed his horse and after the race Vic tried to broker a deal to purchase said horse.

This is the guy, who after Michael Wrona was hired as announcer for the California Fairs, wrote a letter to the powers that be to rethink their decision and hire him. He even offered to do the job for free.

This is a guy who got his rocks off bullying a lesser known announcer on another board.

I could go on and on...
