I really liked him. A friend told me he met the owner and he was this crazy but funny guy. Hopefully he gets another. I remember when people wanted him to run in the derby and he did what was right for the horse. Too bad Keyed Entry and Sinister Minister didn't have his owner/trainer.

RIP boy. You will be missed.

R.I.P.- I give as much respect to the gutty gamers as much as the Champs. But he was both. He will be missed.

May your spirit dash around the green God-given pastures of heaven pain free Fog. Truly a champion, truly missed. RIP.
My heart and prayers go out to all the connections and fans who truly loved this horse. This one's death was the worst for me. I am heart-broken. :( |
So very sad, my heart goes out to all the conection of this truly brave horse.
Especially to Greg Gilchrist who had a great love him. Rest In Peace Big Boy |
I started this season with eager anticipation to see two superstars perform...Barbaro and Lost in the Fog. It has not been a good season. In light of what we now know, Fog's win at Churchill this year may be the gutsiest performance any of us ever saw.

a less than good day suddenly goes straight to hell. not the news i was expecting to see...not yet at least. was hoping they had bought him some time at least.
he was a wonderful horse, a rarity who put together a winning streak that not many can boast of. i really enjoyed watching him run, and will miss seeing him on the track.... my thoughts, my sympathy to mr aleo, mr gilchrist, russell baze, and all those who were with this horse from day one til the end. |
I don't care what anyone says, he was the fastest sprinter I've ever seen (mind you I'm young).. RIP Fogster.
|
RIP you touched alot of peoples hearts
|
RIP big fella...you were a joy and pleasure to watch do what you did best. Thanks for the thrills.

Echo everything already said and add that he was underappreciated. More shots taken against this horse than he ever should have gotten. Ran a full campaign, ran fast every race and really had a big heart down the lane. Sucks to lose them.

Sad Day for Bay Area and LITF connections
I was deeply saddened to hear that Lost In The Fog was put down...
For those of us in the San Francisco Bay Area he was definitely a horse that we rooted for as Aleo/Gilchrest/R. Baze travelled across the country and ran in some of the most highly rated sprint stakes. It was with great pride when he went to Belmont and Saratoga last year and won those races... For those of us in the Bay Area, racing is very much minor leagues with Bay Meadows and Golden Gate Fields on par with the C level type of tracks.... Therefore, it is not often that we get a horse that competes on the national level. Hollendorfer sometimes will ship out and win but LITF was something special.... All of my best to the connections and RIP LITF. PSH |
This sucks. I loved the horse and loved the way the connections stood with him.
It's nice to be able to come to a thread like this, where people who feel as lousy as you do can grieve together. --Dunbar |
I'm sure sad to hear the news about Foggy even though I was kind of prepared for it. It was interesting that it appeared here before it showed up anywhere else.
|
It is a sad day when the sport loses a champion of this magnitude before his time.
|
he will be
missed. rest in peace. |
How sad......I feel guilty now for ever knocking him, and to think he was running with a tumor growing inside. He's a baby, just barely 4 years old.....sigh. These horses will break your heart every time........they're so easy to get attached to, and then wham, in an instant, they're gone. At least he's out of pain............:(
