What I couldn't understand was Byk's bewilderment that Kent had never been to Bermuda before as if Bermuda is the only place in the world to go for vacation.

Merlinsky 05-04-2010 06:54 PM

Listening to it now. Sounds like Kent's gotten into the happy juice. :p Must've started on the plane ride down.

Fearless Leader 05-04-2010 08:10 PM

Without a doubt, the most entertaining half hour in "At The Races" history.

herkhorse 05-04-2010 08:16 PM

I tuned in in the middle of the segment, and for the first minute and a half I thought "who is this old lady Steve is talking to?"

northeastbound123 05-04-2010 08:35 PM

Think he may have called Rachel the bitch on the inside.

Yes he did. Oops

Steve.......

Did a great job, that was not an easy interview to do, you could tell quite quickly that Kent D., was in party mode lol. Greatly entertaining stuff!:)

Really? Gotta finish the rest of the interview. I started having looping issues so I decided I'd listen to it straight through in the archives later. How often is that term thrown around with fillies and mares? I've heard it being used in reference to Ruffian, with of course the infamous quote by, I believe, Moody Jolley post-breakdown. Hopefully I got that attribution right. Is it just the tough ones? Any filly?

jballscalls 05-04-2010 10:17 PM

i too caught the interview about half way through, right before steve went to commercial, and i thought to myself, this guy is hammered!! and then steve said he was on vacation and i thought that is permissible i guess :)

PatCummings 05-05-2010 12:57 AM

I think the vacation started at the 16th pole in the Derby, and boy am I glad it did - cause I didn't use Paddy O'Prado second...

blackthroatedwind 05-05-2010 05:10 AM

It's silly to insinuate he didn't ride Paddy O'Prado out to the wire. It's simply not true.

joeydb 05-05-2010 06:51 AM

That was awesome. Kent must have had a couple too many "Red Stripe" beers...

Err he was in Bermuda not Jamaica..If memory serves correct the grog of choice in Bermuda is Dark N Stormy (Ginger Beer and Black Seal Rum)

dagolfer33 05-05-2010 07:34 AM

It is totally acceptable with Kent on vacation that he might have a few cocktails. However, it sounds like he is drowning his sorrows from this past weekend. It was embarassing. But entertaining.

randallscott35 05-05-2010 07:36 AM

I was waiting for him to tell us that Paddy was the best horse he's ever ridden. It was coming.

Good to know...thanks for the heads up.

Haven't been to Bermuda yet (sorry Steve), but have had Red Stripe in Jamaica and Kalik in the Bahamas.

Andy - I agree with what you say here quite often...but that goggles pull and the "whoa, someone-is-coming-on-the-outside head turn" give me a different impression. In the end, I'm just glad it helped my tickets instead of hurting them.

He couldn't remember the name Bill Mott. Now that's pickled!
